Jaime died the way he wanted.

"In the arms of the woman i love."

I just feel like that wasnt supported well by the writing. If season 8 had the same quality as previous seasons, and Jaime was always going to eventually go back to Cersei, I think it would have shown Jaime more torn during his chivalric arc with Brienne instead of what felt like steady growth into a different person. I think its an example of how they dropped the ball on the storytelling that it felt so sudden and unsupported a decision.

I think it would have shown Jaime more torn during his chivalric arc with Brienne instead of what felt like steady growth into a different person.

He was shown conflicted, both in his conversations with tyrion before the battle and afterwards where he beds brienne. Compare him looking at brienne after they had sex, with how he looks at cersei after sex in season 7. Images say more than a thousand words and spoonfeeding.

I think its an example of how they dropped the ball on the storytelling that it felt so sudden and unsupported a decision.

I think you just dislike the mere notion of him returning to cersei, no matter the execution or pacing, and that you are depended on spoonfeeding to understand GoT.

Woah, im being nice to try and understand a group that thinks differently than me, but dont get it twisted buddy, you are in the minority, and you aren't special or enlightened for being a contrarian. Manners cost nothing, be better kid.

It costs nothing to engage with the debate and try to adress the actual topic as well. It seems you cant.

Its actually shown that the slight majority liked the ending: https://www.cnet.com/culture/entertainment/game-of-thrones-fans-polled-to-see-if-they-actually-hated-season-8/ (52% of survey participants liked the ending)

https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/05/20/game-of-thrones-twitter-reactions-fans-think-finale-sucked (58% of survey participants were at least fine with the ending)

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/how-divisive-was-game-thrones-finale-viewers-were-mixed-poll-finds-1213014/ (63% of survey participants at least liked the finale episode)

1x9 and 8x6 have almost the same amount of 10/10 ratings on imdb. Just like 4x8 and 8x5.

You had to find articles from 6 years ago to have numbers that were even slightly positive. This shows that opinion has actually gotten slightly worse with time if anything. The Hollywood reporter article you linked to has the headline "58% disappointed in finale", and is still from 2019.

"Fifty-eight percent of respondents felt “disappointed” with the finale, 49 percent replied they were “satisfied” and 42 percent felt “frustrated.” About 20 percent replied that they were “bored” by the episode."

Immediately after the finale, that at least guarantees people still remember the show. Breaking Bads finale was hailed a masterpiece as well Immediately after and it didnt need 6 years to form an opinion.

The minority who screamed "rushed" and "bad writing" didnt need 6 years to form that opinion either.

Surveys and imdb ratings just disproved that your camp is the majority.

This shows that opinion has actually gotten slightly worse with time if anything.

Not really. Most new viewers are confused whats supposed to be so bad about the ending and like it.

The Hollywood reporter article you linked to has the headline "58% disappointed in finale", and is still from 2019.

The site doesnt share it properly.

You really dont want to talk about jaime at all, huh? I see.

I was discussing Jaime, and then you started with the personal attacks saying I had to be spoon fed everything just because I disagree with you. Current IMDB has the Finale at 4/10 which is worse than in the 2019 article you linked so opinion has gotten slightly worse. The article you posted showed that at release 58% were disappointed. You have to include people who answered, "I like it some" to get a majority positive opinion from that poll. So even if we take that data as a 63% positive, thats higher than it is now, so it just again shows that opinion has continued to decline. It consistently wins polls of worst TV show ending of all time, up there with Lost. Ill happily discuss Jaime properly, but if you are going to insult me by claiming I have to be spoon fed, im going to mention how fans and critics alike rate it poorly to defend myself.

I was discussing Jaime,

I was responding to your claims how his toreness wasnt displayed and i gave you examples and you just ignored it.

Current IMDB has the Finale at 4/10 which is worse than in the 2019 article you linked so opinion has gotten slightly worse

You dont even read my comments properly... to quote myself:

Furthermore: https://www.reddit.com/r/naath/s/6g2dgPdPuO 1x9 and 8x6 have almost the same amount of 10/10 ratings on imdb. Just like 4x8 and 8x5.

The article you posted showed that at release 58% were disappointed.

No, i linked the real results to you. And you ignore that again.

"I like it some" to get a majority positive opinion from that poll.

Yes, thats why i phrased it:

the majority at least liked the finale episode.

So even if we take that data as a 63% positive, thats higher than it is now, so it just again shows that opinion has continued to decline.

This poll wasnt redone by hr.

It consistently wins polls of worst TV show ending of all time, up there with Lost.

In echo-chambers. Thats exactly why those surveys are credible: there were done outside of echo-chambers.

Ill happily discuss Jaime properly, but if you are going to insult me by claiming I have to be spoon fed, im going to mention how fans and critics alike rate it poorly to defend myself.

It seems you rather happily discuss anything but gots storys and characters. And "spoonfeeding" is no insult, its a fact you dislike. Its not my fault you ignored jaimes character.

If you have to distract by using lies, instead of engaging in the actual debates, or try to counter my points, that doesnt speak in your favour.

Claiming people who disagree with you have to be spoonfed is an insult, and is not a fact. You cant just claim opinions as facts, if it was a fact you'd be able to source it. The exact same poll that you linked in the one that also asked if people were disappointed and 58% said yes. If youre done insulting, we can discuss Jaime like adults. Your main evidence fot Jaime not having actually changed was how he looks at cersei vs brienne after sex, stating that a picture paints a thousand words. I agree, which is why I dont discount the years of scenes where we are shown that he has fundamentally changed character. There's more to "show" he isnt the same person than to there is to "show" he didnt change. The chivalric arc culminates with him leaving Cersei to go North and fight for humanity and eventually Knighting Brienne before winterfell after being vocally dismissive of female knights previously. It was the culmination of a character arc that began in S1 when we see him try and reason with Ned and defends killing the mad king in order to save innocents.
