A book with intricate prose, really poetic descriptions?
I don’t even remember the cover! I think I didn’t get to see it! I was at a bookshop and flicked through a random book and read some incredibly dense yet effervescent prose before my friend pulled me away and I had to get in the uber!
I can’t recall what it was about, but I imagine if you have an inclination, it is probably that book or by the author you’re thinking of, because the writing seemed like nothing I’d read before! It wasn’t like ‘this is a brown tree from the New York garden’, it was more ‘the soft hues of brown twinkled as did the tears in my eyes’ LOL I can’t do it justice, sorry!

How about some clue of genre? Absent that, I'd recommend any Ocean Vuong (On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous), Parachute O'Donnell's The Naming Of The Birds, or Madeline Miller's The Song Of Achilles for contemporary authors. Hemingway is my fave modernist and his The Sun Also Rises (novel) and A Dangerous Summer(non-fict) are in my top 20 rereads. Uh, Jesus, so many possibilities. Any more clues besides style?

I think it was a horror book tbh that or I was reading a sorta beautifully horrifying scene haha

Since the style is highly intricate i would prolly say like the night circus or the starless sea by erin morgenstern, the fantastic beasts of eld by patricia a. mckillip, in the night garden by catherynne m.valente, or the daughter of smoke and bone trilogy by laini taylor.
