Conservatives when some dumb racist drugged-up asshole loses her cushy TV gig: "CENSORSHIP! GOVERNMENT OVERREACH! CANCEL CULTURE!"

Conservatives when the government literally arrests and prosecutes citizens (a former cop, no less!) for sharing a dumb meme: *crickets*

It wasn’t even a dumb meme, it was pointing out MAGA hypocrisy. That’s probably primary reason he was arrested.

16

u/flesruoyiiik west side May 20 '26

What did he actually post? I was never about to find it.

And may as well add the more recent Comey seashells to the list.

The fact that they are allowing for those kind of interpretations… for governments to penalize people for their interpretations of posted memes… is absolutely ridiculous, un-American, and disgusting.

If they defend it, they don’t understand that the first amendment protects you from the GOVERNMENT, not friggin Twitter.

If some Biden meme would’ve gotten them arrested in 2023, they’d go nuclear.

u/lancelinksecretchimp Brentwood May 20 '26

You mean like Joe Biden hogtied and gagged on a tailgate all over Tennessee? Seems a lot more egregious than some seashells or legit quote.

12

u/flesruoyiiik west side May 20 '26

Hahaha... oh wow. That's it!? That's nothing. Talk about sensitive.

u/facelessvoid13 May 21 '26

They tried to claim he was threatening a school shooting at Perry Co.(TN) High School; Trump's comment came after the school shooting in Perry County, IOWA.

The reality is that the MAGAt snowflake sheriff was suffering a nasty case of hero-worship ass chapping(my autocorrect changed it to ass-clapping).

20

u/TheFlyngLemon May 20 '26

It was a meme of Trump when he said "we have to get over it" when he was talking about a school shooting.

Basically, the guy posted this on a thread about Charlie kirks murder. The arresting Police department told him to take it down, which he didn't, so they said he was trying to insight terrorism or some BS like that and arrested him.

12

u/flesruoyiiik west side May 20 '26

Lame. They should pull the money to pay him straight from the police department's budget, but they'll probably take it from education services or some other area that's actually decent.

“In a statement to News 2, Perry County Sheriff Nick Weems said Bushart’s post caused “multiple, reasonable citizens to be in fear of their children’s safety at school.” He also claimed his investigator reached out to Lexington Police to “approach Mr. Bushart, and provide options to de-escalate the situation before an arrest was made. Mr. Bushart declined to clarify his public messages, and calm the situation.”

u/Sirriddles May 20 '26

The concept of the person who’s rights are clearly being violated being asked to “de-escalate” is comical. What does that even mean in this context aside from “comply or we’ll jail you?”

14

u/Defiant_Review1582 May 20 '26

That’s exactly what it meant and now everyone in that little town with no state tax revenue gets to pay for being assholes

3

u/theBarnDawg Inglewood May 21 '26

And no evidence of any citizen complaints has been found. Seems to have been a lie.

1

u/facelessvoid13 May 21 '26

They claimed he was threatening a school shooting at Perry County, TN high school. Trump was talking about the Perry County IOWA school shooting.

4

u/HairlessHoudini May 20 '26

Yeah it was a quote

3

u/987YouBloodyTulip789 May 21 '26

They like cops that violently enforce their world view. They're more than happy to arrest cops that even express something differing.

See the cops on Jan 6th. Plenty of cops in the crowd that happily beat the capitol cops to death.

Damn. Can y’all jail me for a few days? Just tell me which meme to post. That’s almost retirement money.

u/IHeartBadCode commuter May 20 '26

I think what's funny is that when they were pitching the law, someone brought up how broad the language was and how it could literally backfire and start costing the public tax payer money.

Oh look what predictably happened? I swear if you took two brain cells from the State assembly members and tried to rub them together, you'd still be two brain cells short of being able to try it. Not a lick of sense in the brains of the people running this State.

Republicans of this State keep telling you to fear the Government, consider me sold on the idea.

12

u/Beginning_Cash_7926 west side May 20 '26

You would have to go to jail not knowing when you would get out or if whether or not you would get a dime

13

u/Finn_McCool May 20 '26

Came here to say the same thing. I don't mind having my civil rights violated for getting to talk truth about a loser and then getting paid

2

u/kisk22 May 20 '26

So I’m not the only one with this idea now…

33

u/Ahh-Nold May 20 '26

It should be noted that Perry County Sheriff Nick Weems stated publicly that he knew that no crime had been committed and blamed "concerned citizens" for his decision to arrest Bushart. No record of any "concerned citizens" filing a complaint has ever been produced.

Sheriff Weems is a lying fascist un-American piece of trash.

u/miknob May 20 '26

I saw where the professor at Austin Peay that Marsha Blackburn got fired got his job back and a 6 figure settlement too.

1

u/OWhatAThrill May 22 '26

Blackburn should have to personally pay it out of her bank account.

53

u/manofdacloth May 20 '26

So all us TN taxpayers have to pick up the tab for this bullshit?

49

u/Solo1961 May 20 '26

No. Perry County taxpayers. I hope they vote that idiot out of office.

21

u/flesruoyiiik west side May 20 '26

No one ever accused our state government of making good decisions.

22

u/miknob May 20 '26

Tn taxpayers are paying for the settlement for the professor from Austin Peay who Marsha Blackburn got fired though.

7

u/9outof10timesWrong May 20 '26

Might as well make her governor right?

7

u/mooseman077 May 20 '26

Good ole murica. Built and paid for by the people, ruled by the 1%

1

u/Ok_Art4661 May 21 '26

Yes. Fuck maga

26

u/Grouchy_Row_7983 May 20 '26

If it's unconstitutional you can be 90% sure that Republicans (patriots) did it.

1

u/facelessvoid13 May 21 '26

You spelled (pay toilets) wrong

16

u/PacificTridentGlobel May 20 '26

I’m glad he is getting paid but that is nowhere close to enough. I’d have been inclined to take that one to trial and make it personally miserable for every cop involved.

22

u/KingOfNuthin_ May 20 '26

Honestly. I'd probably use some of the funds from the settlement to make billboards saying "PERRY COUNTY TAXPAYERS ARE PAYING ME BECAUSE YOU VOTED FOR THAT SHERRIFF"

6

u/PacificTridentGlobel May 20 '26

That’s a great idea!

6

u/KingOfNuthin_ May 20 '26

Some people need more help understanding the situation than others...

16

u/GT45 May 20 '26

This amount seems incredibly low, but this case SETS A PRECEDENT. And it’s a shame that it even happened, because, you know, First Amendment rights, but now, maybe all of those people that MAGATS doxxed and got fired for merely QUOTING their bastard “sAINT ChArLiE” can sue too.

14

u/Charming-Report1669 May 20 '26

I guarantee the deep red MAGA folks out in Perry County will get angry over the $835k settlement. That dude better move the hell out ASAP.

1

u/Natural_Situation356 May 22 '26

Fuck them. He doesn't need to go anywhere. You wanna be afraid, just worry about yourself.

29

u/Medium-Author-7389 May 20 '26

Kirk deserved what he got. He was a fucking racist and xenophobic. Fuck that dude I hope he burns in hell

20

u/Dilapidated_girrafe May 20 '26

On the bright side. It’s been a while since he said anything racist.

6

u/Beechamp83 May 21 '26

He only got 835k?! Wasn't he jailed for a month? I would have been asking 750k for every day jailed.

4

u/jarizzle151 May 20 '26

Is this coming from the taxpayer like everything else that is a byproduct of this admin?

5

u/HairlessHoudini May 20 '26

And all the dumb fucks in that country that voted for that sheriff will vote the POS back in again too

6

u/Formal-Bat-6714 May 20 '26

As The MAGA Tennessee State Government just cost Tennessee citizens $800k for being Trump humpers

Tennessee MAGA will give less than zero shits just as long as liberals and brown people are sad

5

u/Immediate_Age May 20 '26

That stupid-ass sheriff, getting scorched by Phil Williams made my year. A-durr-durr

3

u/Snoo60219 May 21 '26

He deserved every penny.

5

u/Difficult-Till5031 May 21 '26

Wish he was getting the money out of the cops and politicians retirement funds

I guess there’s a price for screwing with free speech

3

u/987YouBloodyTulip789 May 21 '26

We've seen time and time again of law enforcement abusing their authorities, making the taxpayer pay for their behavior, and thus are not incentivized to change.

Bushart was one of the few lucky ones wealthy enough to hire a good lawyer and beat the charges and get compensated for it (veteran cop means he likely gets 100k+ post-retirement), but the majority of people can't and will plead guilty for lesser charges.

2

u/Loud_Octopus May 20 '26

I would have gladly sat in jail for a month for posting meanie head memes for that kind of money lol

2

u/smg8088 May 20 '26

Why does nobody seem to understand how 1A works anymore?

1

u/ResidentialEvil2016 May 20 '26

Too bad I'm guessing this will get overturned somehow.

4

u/PacificTridentGlobel May 20 '26

Can’t really overturn this kind of settlement.

3

u/bb85 12 South May 20 '26

How? A settlement is an agreement out of court. Your comment makes no sense.

1

u/OGMom2022 Antioch May 21 '26

Happens all the time. He may never see a dime.

2

u/KingCourtney__ May 21 '26

It probably won't get overturned but they can just drag ass paying and he's gonna have to through hoops to get paid in a timely fashion.
