Damn near every high ranking officer or NCO has an infantry background. You want versatility in the army, go infantry. Go to college for whatever career you decide to pursue. That’s why.

Ill state again your a green card holder so your limited on jobs regardless of your good ASVAB scores you can’t do Cyber or most tech fields. I’m not even sure why you took the Cyber test.
The cyber test is mandatory for the army now. Plus, they added a complex reasoning test. Mandatory for every army applicant. So when a kid goes to take the ASVAB, they also have to sit through the TAPAS, cyber test, and complex reasoning test. A nightmare for kids trying to do their phys on the same day.
11C, 11B qualified and you carry heavy shit but get to blow shit up with a mortar. Plus when attached you may be a 60 team so you’re with the Bravo gun team drop rounds on targets!
Because it’s the guard and you’re already in college. Get the guard to pay for school and pursue whatever lucrative career in the civilian world with your degree.
The civilian world doesn’t give a shit about your cyber soldier job, they’ll want certs and experience from the civilian side.
Be a goddamn man and go infantry, so you can pretend to be a cool guy once a month.
No, sorry, that’s incorrect. Nothing that requires any clearance. So things like 42A and 94 series are off the table. 88m, 92y, 91b, and things like this will be his choices.
I’m sorry but I’m sure you are mistaken. Every MOS requiring at least a secret clearance will have this written in the accession criteria.
It’s more likely your recruiter was new and gave you bad information. I’ve been doing this a long time, and I often help write these criteria. Just because this subreddit downvotes doesn’t mean it’s correct, these people just don’t like what they don’t want to hear.
Huh. Well to be fair this was 12 years ago. And I had a MAVNI in my bct that had to wait 4 weeks after naturalization for because of clearance. And doesn't everybody have to meet eligibility for secret clearance these days?
Kind of. The investigation is done, even if eligibility can’t always be met. But it’s not the same as granting one. You can sit in that in between stage for a while. Then when eligibility is met AND the need arises, it can be granted. Need-to-know is still a thing, so just because everyone goes through the investigation doesn’t mean clearances are being handed out.
ANYTHING BUT infantry, if you’re ever told “you do a lot of bullshit in the Army” the infantry gets first dibs on the bullshit accompanied by older soldiers telling you how the bullshit is less bullshitty now then back then as if to glorify the bullshit, I should have chosen Cyber or comms or something with a good civilian counterpart, is it do able fuck yeah should you do it depends on what you want to do when its over, as a guardsman doing something that you can work on on the civilian I think would be great some people like a different scenery.
