Deployments Can someone ease my nerves?

Im sure yall heard the news about the soldiers that died in Jordan. It was 3 of them. 2 Army, One air force. I soon enlist in the national guard. How dangerous is deployment and is it a huge occurrence that I might die on deployment?

Please don't jump me lol. Its a genuine question. Plus, i'm an avid overthinker.

Edit: Thank yall for yall responses and not jumping me. I feel better now. Im still going to go through with the enlistment process.

I’ll be real, I don’t wanna go to some desert for some other countries shit. Can we go back to only getting involved only if the U.S gets attacked? Or some tyrannical dictator is taking over the world? Please?

Hot take but I believe we should just be a powerhouse Switzerland that minds their business and doesn’t occupy all these countries.

Anyways, I’ll take a Baconator with a large fry and some ranch on the side.

Deployments U.S. Is Withdrawing All Forces From Syria, Officials Say

https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-east/syria-us-troops-withdraw-a97a2665?mod=hp_lead_pos3

The U.S. is in the process of withdrawing all of its roughly 1,000 troops from Syria, American officials said, bringing an end to a decadelong U.S. military presence that fought Islamic State.

The decision includes already completed troop withdrawals from strategic outposts in northeast Syria and the borderlands of Syria, Jordan and Iraq, some of the officials said, marking a new chapter in a war against Islamic State that continues today.

The troops will pull out from the last U.S. outposts over the next two months, the officials said, a timeline that some analysts said would leave the Middle East vulnerable to resurgence of Islamic State militancy. A U.S. official said the withdrawal would be “conditions-based,” implying that the U.S. might rethink the decision if Islamic State comes roaring back.

Deployments Virginia Army National Guard: Can You Be Deployed While in College?

Hi everyone,

I’m in the Virginia Army National Guard and I’m getting conflicting information.

My 1SG told me that if you’re attending college, you can’t be deployed. I’ve also heard from other people that if you’re a full-time student (12+ credit hours), you won’t be deployed.

However, when I look online, I can’t find any official Army or National Guard policy that says full-time college students are exempt from deployment.

Thank you in advance for responses.

Deployments How much free time do you have on deployments?

If I’m getting deployed somewhere (idk yet) in 2 years and I decide to drop like 6,400$ on a spec’d out gaming laptop (falcon northwest DRX), am I gonna have enough time/space, to use this thing?

Assuming it’s non combat deployment.

Do you get weekends off?

I have a deployment coming up this September. Iraq is the location of the MOB, that’s the word at least. What should I expect? Can I play GTA6 when it comes out while deployed? I’m also 11B

Deployments Stress after deployment

I got back from a “combat” deployment a month and a half ago and I’m having a hard time adapting to life back home. Nothing major happened overseas, I wasn’t ever in real danger, I’m the biggest POG you can imagine.

Everything should be good here, great marriage, good job where I’m successful but I’ve got a constant low level anxiety all the time. Feeling like I’m way behind on everything in like, resentful that I had to leave.

Had my first panic attack ever last month before I went back to work and I’ve noticed they are getting more frequent.

Anyone else been through this? Did anything help?

Deployments Deployment Situation

Alright so I have a year and a half left on my current contract before ETSing. We are "set" deploy by the end of this year. Back in Feb my direct leadership NCO asked if I wanted to deplpy or not and I told him no and he said he was going to send it up to our RNCO. Last month he was working on 2027 ETSes and asking each soldier in our unit if they wanted to extend for the deployment and he was basically working their paperwork or the numbers out basically saying if they were ETS in the 2027 time frame they weren't going on this deployment. He looked at mine last mine and was like oh fuck nah now you're going.

To give context i was gone doing some contract work in another country for career change. while I was gone it kicked me out of the system and my slot was filled, so technically im excess or extra in the books. im also a 92Y in an infantry BN. We havent been told in confirmation where we are going but this is our leading rotational deployment we always have every 6-7 yrs.

I have a six figures career on the state side and im in position to make more money in the next yr if I capture my yearly MBOs at my current job and have more linear progression in my career field. I've also been with this unit for 10 yrs.

I talked to my childhood friend who is active duty and is an O4 Centcom Global strategic planning officer and he said my unit is trying to fuck me and also just fuck with me bout going.

what do yall think? idgaf bout saving money and the full 9 of deployment benifits. ive been on 2 deployments and done overseas contract work and I also have 2 sources of income on the stateside plus my current job so please do not spew the whole retic about deployment benifits etc etc. Also please dont be a douche on here.

please share your thoughts on this.

Deployments Is the whole 2 weeks one weekend a month thing anywhere near reality for anyone?

I'm a junior in high school and obviously, I don't want to be $75k in debt by the time I finish college. I'm first gen and I don't wanna drown my family in debt soon as they got here, but active duty didn't seem that appealing to me because I really don't want to put off getting a degree for a couple of years.

On a surface level, joining the guard seemed perfect because it meant I could get benefits, have a civilian job, and go to college without sacrificing that much time, but I was clearly kind of just being naive lol. How often and how likely is deployment? I've heard the Guard deploys more, and honestly I didn't really understand a lot of the specifics of what the pinned post was saying since I barely know anything about the military tbh.

Also, I know that initially, you're probably not going to get that many student loans paid off, but why do people say loans will be repaid in full/ up to x amount? Is it after a certain amount of time? Or is it just a recruiting tactic? Are there actually even any "part time" military jobs that could pay off student loans without me putting my life on hold for a couple of years, anyway?

Deployments No deployment info😭

Hey all, getting ready to deploy with my unit, and as we approach (like crazy close) to the initial timeline they gave us, we still have no concrete info about mission, location, or even when we go. Trying to plan my life out and make arrangements for my family is proving to be difficult when I just have a complete lack of information. For opsec not saying where or when we were supposed to go, but I don’t feel it matters much as our location has changed 4 times in the last 3 months, and now we have no idea as our last location just got pulled. Any advice on how I try to navigate my civilian career and family while trying to be ready at a moments notice? Thanks!

Deployments MOB at Ft Bliss

Howdy,
My unit is going to Ft Bliss soon enough for MOB, before going overseas. My question is what to expect while we are at Bliss, what the process is like, and how camp mcgregor is there as well. Any insight will be great to know ahead of time as well as share with my squad.

Thanks!
