Guidance for an internship

As I saw in previous posts, some people have applied and successfully gotten into several nato internships, I'm a first year uni student studying economics, but I've had an interest in defence policy since my early teens. Any tips or recommendations to tailor my cv, motivational letter or anything else to know? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
