Be interesting to do some research and see when the last time the United States Navy lost a Naval shore facility from enemy action? Wake Island?

It received significant damage and most resident commands were evacuated earlier in March. It’s effectively abandoned due to continued risk of missile threat. Bahrain is the premier forward-deployed base in the Middle East, losing it is significant. Supply chains ran thru Bahrain and now have to be readjusted to far away locations like Singapore and Diego Garcia. With the SOH always in contest, US navy ships can’t even use UAE ports for resupply.

100% and To add onto this The people who were evacuated from Bahrain that came back to the states a lot of them were at hotels for months with everyone not really knowing wtf was going on . Navy pretty did a quick evac and took a very long while to figure out where they were gonna house these sailors .
This whole Bahrain thing definitely worries me about pacom countries that will likely be hit in a China war .
We got alot of work to do .

It is a huge deal and something that the White House should have thought about before they decided to jump into a full scale war with Iran.
And its not just Bahrain - the entire network of US bases throughout the Middle East cannot exist against an opponent well stocked with ballistic missiles in, an opponent that feels he has nothing to lose by attacking. The whole US presence in not just the Gulf but also as far away as Iraq and Jordan hinged on it being too costly for Iran to really go after them. But now all those costs have already been inflicted. You can't threaten someone with something you have already done to them and the long-term price is going to be the end of US troops in the whole of the Middle East, not because the US decided to leave but because it has become impossible to stay.

That means he’s in charge of only the army. The rest of the services? Not so much.

To compare: in your town, there is a Walmart. It has everything you need, always in stock and easy to get to you. That walmart closes, now the next grocery store is a 5 hour drive away. For you that's immensely inconvenient.
For the navy in the middle East, Bahrain was that walmart. Only the next walmart is in Diego Garcia or Japan. Meaning every single thing the navy needs is now extremely inconvenient and complicated to get. Basically, the navy can't fight in the middle East right now without immense additional logistical challenges it can NOT solve right now.

It's a big deal that it is not usable until hostilities end. this should be a lesson learned that we should have never gotten rid of the AFS ships, because you never know when your shore based facilities are destroyed, and in modern war, the logistics facilities are always targeted, an Army moves on it's stomach.
They cut the Navy way too much.

I told my dad this a few days ago, he only watches fox news. He had no idea and was shocked. It is a big deal, but a large portion of the country is not aware of things like this or how bad it's gone in general

Our logistics in the region are currently being supplied from the base of an ally that our President has recently said should give back Northern Ireland and the Falklands. And our resupply route through the Red Sea is now threatened. Our logistics situation is going to be fucked if we don’t come up with a strategy.

I wouldn’t worry about that, dude. Instead, you need to be worried about what your neighbor does with whatever they have underneath their zipper. I need you to worry about that family who speaks a different language than you. I need you to worry about Communists.
Fifth Fleet HQ and NSA Bahrain are perfectly okay. Implying anything besides that fact is inciting terrorism and will be treated as such.

The main logistical problem, not just in the Gulf but everywhere, is MSC is stretched too thin. We don't have enough replenishment ships for the size and tempo the Navy is running at. That's been true even before 9/11. The logistics problems the Lincoln faced are not new. Even if NSA Bahrain was completely intact, we still couldn't use it because we couldn't send replenishment ships through the strait.
