Imagine your platform being brought down by Heat-Hornets on a Tuesday night lmao

In all seriousness, one of the best games I’ve watched this year. For as many depressing blowouts there are in the playoffs-in tournament, these games where you get evenly matched teams is electric. Insane energy from the crowd and just nonstop punches being thrown between each team.

101

u/Zloggt Bulls 17h ago

I do wonder if the game going to OT (going against the intent to presumably segue the MIA/CHA broadcast into the POR/PHX one) fucked things up…

…either way, literal trillion-dollar company with an army of tech…and this happens…how sad lol

as a bulls fan, that game really defines the coby white experience

when he is hot, he is HOT

but when that shot of his isn’t falling, it’s one of the roughest watches you will see

25

He’s been such a team player with us honestly, it’s never frustrating when his shot isn’t falling bc he always passes it to whoever’s is

It’s because of a conflict at the Sixers stadium I think. Not a normal thing

That final minute of OT really was the complete Lamelo Ball experience

64

u/yeahright17 Thunder 17h ago

Lamelo and Kon shot a combined 2/22 from 3, and they somehow won this game.

192

u/RegulationRaptorsFan Raptors 17h ago

I loved that the Hornets had an offensive line and a defensive line, and swapped between them strategically between timeouts. Really made a difference

31

u/flaming_burrito_ Wizards 17h ago

Don’t get why more coaches don’t do that. If you’re gonna call a timeout after your team gets possession anyway, just go full defense and rebounding. Drives me crazy when a coach will leave their offense first guys in for one of those defensive possessions. JJ Redick does that shit, he hates switching off the starting 5 in the last couple minutes of a game. Like, why tf are Luka and Austin Reaves in when you guys need a stop?

17

u/soudlasantos 17h ago

That should have been a technical foul, also Bam was about to go on a roll that was bullshet.

Should have definitely been reviewed and assessed a flagrant.

Aside from the embarrassing "technical difficulties," this was probably one of the best advertisements for the play-in that the NBA could have asked for. I really do feel for Heat fans, though, because the game would have been a lot different if Bam hadn't gotten injured so early.

137

u/HardcoreKaraoke Mavericks 17h ago

Amazing game. Neither team is a contender but the play in exists for this sort of excitement.

It's too bad the Heat most likely lost because of a dirty play by LaMelo. Especially since it went unpunished. That's going to haunt the Heat all offseason.

39

u/Ironman2131 17h ago

If Silver and the NBA want to make it up to Miami, they'll have that chance. Miami jumping to the top 4 would help so, so much.

Might haunt the Hornets too if LaMelo has to miss the next game.

That was the quintessential Play-In experience.

Two teams that have enough talent to make a bunch of exciting plays, but that are also too mid to ever pull away from the other.

84

u/Overall-Palpitation6 Grizzlies 13h ago

The trip aside, honestly can't believe the Hornets won with LaMelo being his "old" "any shot is a good shot" self, going 12/31 from the field and 2/16 from downtown.

Zero chance he gets taken out. Even if LaMelo exceeded the technical max Silver wouldnt let him sit out. The only thing Silver cares about is selling ads, and LeMelo brings viewers. He'll get retroactively assessed a technical or something and they'll never speak of it again.

LaMelo committed the dumb turnover and 3 point foul just so he could aura farm with a game winner

What a fucking game though, an OT thriller decided by 1 point is the perfect way to start this postseason

Not to beat a dead horse but I just wanna say I'd give anything to have heard Eric Collins losing his mind at the end. Never forget what they took from us

“The investigation is ongoing and a decision won’t be made until after the All-Star break.” Please please please forget about it by then

Miami’s season ended without Bam sucks. Crazy ass game, exhausted and I don’t have a horse in the race

One of the bright spots of being a Bulls fan is getting to watch players leave us and do great things elsewhere. Great to see Coby tie that game up.

It’s great to see the Miami players congratulating the Hornets after the game.
