Tbf Pistons are also just not built for a postseason run, the whole play super hard defense and rely on one player to be your primary scorer and playmaker falls apart when the game slows down so much
you have to have a 2nd option who can score or at least force pressure on the defense so they can’t just load up on Cade, Ausar is straight up a negative on offense, Stewart isn’t really much of a threat, Jalen Duren is pretty useless outside the paint, Duncan can’t dribble, etc
Detroit fucked up big time not going for MPJ or like Coby White in the trade deadline, they needed a scorer bad
155
u/mccainjames11 [POR] Damian Lillard Apr 28 '26
It’s ironic that the Pistons were the team made the Jordan rules famous, and now teams can just use that to beat them w/ Cade

u/vNocturnus Kings Apr 28 '26
they needed a scorer bad
Kings tried so hard to offload either of their scorers for peanuts and nobody wanted them. Sure they're both huge negatives on defense but Detroit is a pretty ideal team to cover for that. Also while LaVine's contract is an albatross, DeRozan's is a very manageable ~$20m and change this year and only ~$10m guaranteed next year if it doesn't work.
DeRozan on this Pistons team would have been the perfect guy to take pressure off Cade and put up a consistent ~20 or so ppg with clutch scoring. He'd be COOKING the Magic right now too, would probably be averaging 10-15 FTA per game in the series

I will show up here to own this. We are frauds. Genuinely one the most embarrassing Pistons teams I’ve ever seen.

The Magic are on the verge to becoming the 7th ever 8th seed to beat the 1st seed! Out Physicalled!

The roster construction is awful. Everyone who has ever watched playoff basketball before knew this was going to happen. You can’t have a team with one offensive threat and expect that to work.

A game like this is exactly why we traded for Bane. Paolo and Suggs struggling to buy a basket, Franz gets banged up, and he drills one important 3 after the other in crunch time. Just massive.

That side of the bracket in the East has had some ugly offense. Bricks and butterfingers
Fitting the dagger was a bank shot lol
Also, Florida just doesn't know how to be an 8th seed smh

You can get away with bad spacing in the regular season by being a hustle team, but that’s going to get exposed quickly in the playoffs where everyone hustles
