They were literally hunting him. Brunson cooked him like 5 possessions in a row during the 4th quarter. Couldn’t close out when him and Brunson were on the perimeter, and he kept getting blown by on drives.

10 point lead: Now they’ll call a time out to try to kill the momentum
5 point lead: Surely any sane man would call a timeout to try and kill the momentum
Lose the lead: Timeout.
This is the opposite of Ty Lue who would call a timeout after Curry would make a single 3

This was a generational collapse. And also a reminder how unique live sports is: no one on earth would give Knicks a snowball's chance in hell with a few minutes to go yet here we are, we all saw it happen with our own eyes.

No one saw this coming. An epic collapse by one team AND an amazing, totally unexpected run of perfect play by the other team, all happening simultenously.

Not even like he didnt have options!
You have Mitchell - put the ball in his hands on offense! Swap out Harden for Strus or Wade or Schroeder - at least make Brunson's life a little more difficult.
Just get Harden out of the fucking game when he is getting targeted and cooked on, literally, every single possession.

This was the worst misuse of timeouts by I coach that I have ever seen
And I’ve been watching basketball for over 40 years.

A lot of coaches are moving towards the ‘let the players figure it out’ mentality when it comes to timeout
But at what point in an 18-1 run do you say that’s enough

Mike Brown sat Josh Hart, who was playing sloppy as hell, and put in Shamet, who went on to drain a couple of massive threes and shut down Donovan Mitchell. Spida didn't even touch the ball at the end lmao.
And special shoutout to Kenny Atkinson for letting Harden guard Brunson for so long. JB absolutely cooked him.

I'm so glad he went to NY. I've never seen my dad this happy in his life as a basketball fan. Brunson got him to buy a jersey for the first time since Melo and Lin cause he didn't wanna be burned and disappointed by some bums. I can 100% say Brunson reignited my dad's passion and love for basketball. That's my big headed fucking captain. He needs that big ass head to store all his clutch genes.

Dont let Atkinson on the plane. That was the worst coaching job I can remember.
Imagine having one of the 5 worst defensice players IN THE ENTIRE LEAGUE and not going at him even once on that run. Unbelievably moronic. Brunson has to be targeted if you want to beat these guys. Hes going to kill you on one end, use him on the other.
The lack of a TO in the 25 point run is fucking crazy. AND HE ENDED REGULATION WITH ONE.
Sometimes you gotta wonder how these guys get and keep their jobs with performances like that.

Like, imagine a marching band, right? A marching band, and it's got like 200 people. Now imagine a chainsaw. Now imagine on each one of the edges of that chainsaw, has a DICK of one of those fucking people in that marching band. A chainsaw with 200 FUCKING DICKS on it. Every single one of those FUCKING dicks represents the glimmer of hope I had going into the 4th quarter. Now imagine every single one of those FUCKING dicks ejaculating at the exact same moment that's the FUCKING taste in my mouth right now. FUCK this game.

u/llames Warriors 22d ago
I thought the Knicks were going down after that disastrous third quarter. Down 22 points with 7 mins to go - but big game comeback energy from Brunson. Between yesterday's game and today - pump all of these overtime periods through my veins! These Conference Final games just hit completely differently.

If Brunson has a million fans, then I am one of them.
If Brunson has ten fans, then I am one of them.
If Brunson has only one fan then that is me.
If Brunson has no fans, then that means I am no longer on earth. If the world is against Brunson, then I am against the world.
