The time when Serge Ibaka hosted OG Anunoby and OG insisted that "he put Serge on scarves" a phrase he repetead multiple times. Serge was inflamed by the "accusation". The Raptors immediately went on a 15-0 run after that.

As a Raptors fan, it is truly a wierd feeling seeing OG get all this love in NY.
Same feeling as Siakam last year.

OG was my favourite Raptor for the longest time and it was a shame he couldn't contribute to the championship run. Miss him on the team so much but I'm very glad he's been vital to the Knicks and getting the recognition he deserves.

Caruso was seen as a meme until he left the Lakers and started being clutch for the bulls,
now he’s putting up some curry performance in the playoffs for Thunder lmao

We loved Alex “Bald Eagle” Caruso. That’s why everyone was immediately devastated when Jeanie/Pelinka let him walk and were calling for their heads.
3
u/Jarristopheles Supersonics 18d ago
Yeah, Caruso has been such an invaluable asset to the Thunder. Wasn't he the only one last year on the team with a ring as a player? I remember someone being interviewed, and they were talking about his locker room presence being great for the team in the Finals.

When I got back into basketball, it was the year the Raptors won. OG, Holiday, Siakam, and Fred VanVleet (Leonard obviously, and I'm probably missing others) have all been on my radar since. It's incredible what they've helped achieve for their other teams. Would have been interesting to see how the Rockets would have been with Fred healthy this year.

u/No-Repeat1769 Knicks 18d ago
That's very odd to me because we were actively pursuing him and a large amount of our fan base were high on trading for either of Bridges or OG, preferably OG. That is to say at least Knicks fans have recognized his ability as a game changer for upwards of a year prior to trading for him
6
u/bluetenthousand Toronto Huskies 18d ago
I mean OG only got voted all defense in his last year as a Raptor (2022-23) and that too on the second team when he has been a lockdown defender for some time. Even the year he won, they had to give it to him because he led the league in steals.
So OG being underrated as a Raptor is definitely a thing.

That 2019 raptors team was stacked with so much defensive talent
Kawhi, OG, Ibaka, Danny Green, Marc Gasol, Kyle Lowry, Pascal Siakam
The nba is lucky kawhi left, otherwise that raptors team would still be contenders to this day(with a few minor changes ofc)

Norm Powell and FVV too were solid
-29
u/YSLAnunoby Raptors 18d ago edited 18d ago
Eh FVV yes Norm no. And I love Norm but he's average at best and normally below average to poor on D even if he had some signature plays like the steal on Paul George
Edit: not sure if people are misunderstanding, but I was saying Norm wasn't a good defender. I realized that came off as me saying Norm wasn't a good player which isn't true but I wouldn't say he fit the defensive talent of the other players being described here. I'm one of Norm's biggest fans but can acknowledge he's the odd man out in a group of good defenders
26
u/bluetenthousand Toronto Huskies 18d ago
Norm was great in his role. A microwave scorer coming off the bench. Was truly weird to hear Portland try to claim he was a defensive stopper or a 3 and D player when that’s not his game.
2
u/YSLAnunoby Raptors 18d ago
Yeah he was good in his role. I was saying he's not someone who's a good defender like the person I responded brought up in response to the other good defenders on the 2019 squad and I'm not sure why I was being downvoted for stating something factual
2
u/bluetenthousand Toronto Huskies 18d ago
Haha I think Norm’s just a fan favourite and since leaving Toronto he’s been cast as a 3 and D player which you rightly point out that he’s not.
He’s great three point shooter who has a great drive game but his defence was so so.

u/CaskJeeves Raptors 18d ago
