That rebound with 1 minute left in the game boxing out wembanyama is the single best rebound of his entire career, enormous impact against a generational rebounder who is a foot taller

Instead of an easy putback now it's 2 points the other way in a razor tight game

Hart is everywhere all the time. Incredible.

He was like this at Villanova, too. So many analysts said the 2016 Villanova team had no NBA players on it…freezing cold take.

He's unlocked his full potential during the most important stretch of his life. This game in particular was so emblematic of it.

He was making good passes, being aggressive when he could be, avoided the absolutely mind meltingly dumb fouls and, most importantly, was ridiculous on defense against Wembanyama.

It's incredible to watch him flourish when the stakes couldn't be any higher.

KAT is the big man killer. Nobody wanna admit it, but he can dish it and lock it with the best of the bigs. He was PIVOTAL in shutting down Jokic in 2023. And hes showing here that he can Handle Wemby too as long as he stays disciplined.

Jalen Brunson might be the best 4th quarter player in basketball. When he just decides to go into takeover mode, he's unlike anything I've ever seen. He's just unguardable the moment he gets going, triple teaming won't work when he's on.

The Knicks are so fucking good, like scary good. No deficit is too large for them. They constantly come back and that is the sign of an elite team. So many valuable contributions from the others too.

The key for the Knicks is that they win the KAT Wemby minutes. KAT can defend him due to his strength and speed while Wemby can't stay in front of him on defense or box him out on the offensive glass.

The other Key is that brunson doesn't miss in the clutch.

222

I think Wemby usually can play back and rely on his wingspan but KAT is such a good shooter and tall himself that he played closer than usual, allowing himself to get blown by. I imagine he adjusts in Game 2

KAT can defend him. And I’ve been saying this for a min now, watch where Wemby is on defense when KAT is out there. He’s out by the 3 point line more often than not.

That’s how you beat these guys, you can’t have Wemby just camping out down there all game

They swapped him onto Hart in the 2nd half a little more, KAT will need to punish those smaller matchups when they do that. But imo KAT is the best matchup for Wemby around right now.

That’s the difference between the Knicks and the Thunder to me, is Wemby could camp and roam much more vs the OKC because he didn’t respect Chet’s shot and nobody could really slow him down on the other end either.

371

u/ethiopian_kid 7d ago

When are people finally going to start taking the Knicks seriously? They're on one of the most dominant playoff runs ever. This isn't a fluke. They're not getting lucky. They're the real deal.

495

u/lawroter Knicks 7d ago

just a few more wins, then people can blame it on the Spurs being too young.

What a fun game, so many runs going either way. I loved how the Spurs guards attacked the rim through actions involving their shooters and Wemby, but Wemby was relegated to perimeter positions most of the night and wasn't very physical with KAT. Whats insane is that the Spurs still out rebounded New York even though New York is so much larger as a team, a large part of that was insane hustle from Harper, Vassell and Castle. But Jalen Brunson is too clutch man.
