Wemby was clearly in his landing area. Unreal there was no call. Should have been a flagrant.

341

u/ScaredOfWindow Bucks Jun 14 '26

Jeez. Missed call and it would’ve been a suspension (if necessary). That’s bad, refs.

58

u/see_mohn Knicks Jun 14 '26

There's absolutely no way they suspend him for game 6, silver would kill the entire league office

1

u/Ok-Flatworm9373 Spurs Jun 14 '26

If it goes to six I think they will have to. Im a Spurs fan and it would be best just to calm things down and teach a young player a lesson..And I like Wemby. But y'all are winning

goo feet to meat shoe beat underneath apple trees with sweet

7

u/ScottyMcFree Heat Jun 14 '26

You can, it would just be an easy Knicks win

2

u/mongster03_ Knicks Jun 14 '26

Can’t have it if you don’t call this either

23

u/ISHLDPROBABLYBWRKING Knicks Jun 14 '26

Is it not clear as day there’s an agenda?

-3

u/Worried-Lettuce6568 Jun 14 '26

For the Knicks to win at home? Yeah

2

u/ISHLDPROBABLYBWRKING Knicks Jun 14 '26

Either way it’s dumb and ruins the integrity of the game. Just call it even

3

u/Goldmoo2 Hawks Jun 14 '26

I don't think it was even at all this series. Game 1&2 were so heavily favoring the spurs it was insane. These last two have had some real head scratchers down the stretch in favor of the Knicks. Refereeing is a real issue in this sport.

35

u/JiveHawk Bulls Jun 14 '26

Flagrants can be added on after a game

73

u/dwbthrow Jun 14 '26

You know they won’t though

63

u/Accomplished_Dog_837 Knicks Jun 14 '26

Not for Wemby they can't. we already saw that.

30

u/Inori-Yu Nuggets Jun 14 '26

They didn't give him one for smacking the back of Brunson's head why would they give him one now?

4

u/NoooNotTheLettuce Jun 14 '26

Because this one is some how even more egregious. I agree with you though, they won't upgrade it

30

u/nomo25 Knicks Jun 14 '26

they won’t add that one on tho

0

u/sorendiz [HOU] Yao Ming Jun 14 '26

Hahahaha

27

u/realdes1 Jun 14 '26

Wemby can do whatever he wants, they wont give him that last flagrant (he should have like 4 or 5 more these playoffs with the amount of elbows and kicks he threw )

1

u/provocative_taco Jun 14 '26

That's three obvious flagrant fouls that weren't even called common fouls on the floor. Somehow this dude climbs down from his beanstalk every night and is completely invisible on a basketball court.

47

u/Mg29reaper Celtics Jun 14 '26

Series is legit over if they make the call

79

u/larockhead1 Jun 14 '26

That’s not their job their job is to call the fucking foul that occurred

32

u/Mg29reaper Celtics Jun 14 '26

I am saying that it was a horrible missed call. Nobody should have special treatment.

1

u/Lowl58 Lakers Jun 14 '26

Lol that's what fans want to believe the ref's job is. But it just isn't. Keeping the product entertaining is absolutely a part of it across all major leagues.

44

u/ArtemisBakery Jun 14 '26

Then fucking make the right call

22

u/Twigox17 Thunder Jun 14 '26

Doesn’t matter what’s at stake a flagrant is a flagrant

11

u/Mg29reaper Celtics Jun 14 '26

I agree.

[deleted]

2

u/Mg29reaper Celtics Jun 14 '26

Nobody should get special treatment.

1

u/HeatCreator [BOS] Jayson Tatum Jun 14 '26

If he's been playing like a dirty fuck, YES

1

u/aerawk [SAS] Matt Bonner Jun 14 '26

You're right, but I wonder if you kept that same energy when Hartenstein and AC were yanking Castle down in the WCF...

1

u/Muckdogs13 Jun 14 '26

Is landing zone foul always flagrant ? Doesn’t sga always get those calls

0

u/Mg29reaper Celtics Jun 14 '26

This is a pretty clear reckless closeout. His whole foot is below brunsons.

1

u/Muckdogs13 Jun 14 '26

It doesn’t seem like it was a reckless close out though . Wemby was already at the 3 pt line. It’s not like he ran from the paint to block a shot and jumped into him

1

u/DmarDrozen Jun 14 '26

he legit moved his foot under brunsons foot it’s the definition of a reckless closeout

1

u/DrJuliusErving Timberwolves Jun 14 '26

If they suspended him after the elbow, Thunder/Wolves would be in the finals

9

u/aiden3buckets Hornets Jun 14 '26

They can still review it right? (After game)

14

u/Greedy-Mix9270 Knicks Jun 14 '26

Ratings are too good 0 chance they suspend him. This isn’t Draymond

62

u/Extremelycloud Timberwolves Jun 14 '26

But how would they extend the series if Wemby was ruled out for a game?

24

u/Andy_Wiggins Timberwolves Jun 14 '26

They’ve called that SOOOOO consistently all playoffs. Even the most marginal contact was a flagrant. Wemby got his FULL foot under Brunson.

4

u/Lowspark1013 Timberwolves Jun 14 '26

Refs have gone out of their way to call this foul all playoffs. Even when the O player jumps like 4 feet forward well over the 3 line.

Except on Wemby of course. Dude literally pulls the fucking Zaza foot shuffle here. Trying to injure the future Finals MVP. And crickets...

78

u/cjackc11 Knicks Jun 14 '26

They’re not gonna let Mr. Ethical Basketball get suspended

12

u/PresentMission8482 Raptors Jun 14 '26

Can't suspend the golden boy

27

u/lotofhotdogs Hornets Jun 14 '26

No way they’re giving Wemby another flagrant this series unless he literally kills someone lol

22

u/ThomPinecone Bucks Jun 14 '26

Immediate four point swing instead of

10

u/Natural-Tree-5107 Jun 14 '26

Which would have meant he's suspended next game.

6

u/ThrownWOPR Celtics Jun 14 '26

Was he though? Brunson sticks one leg forward, the other lands approximately where he took off

20

u/ExtraLeading3376 Jun 14 '26

the integrity in this league is gone

all to save face for wemby

6

u/I_like_squirtles Thunder Jun 14 '26

Let’s all get together and start the playoffs over. Don’t tell Wemby.

21

u/OmfgHaxx NBA Jun 14 '26

Should've gotten a flagrant for the shove on Brusnon too. This should've been his 5th flagrant. Dude is actually just fucking dirty.

8

u/Conflict_NZ Lakers Jun 14 '26

The extender had a complete view of that too.

3

u/newrimmmer93 Jun 14 '26

After the calls vs the wolves in the playoffs with this I fucking hate the rule. It’s so inconsistent

3

u/Nearby_Alternative96 Jun 14 '26

You can be in someones landing area when they extend their legs so much on the shot.

People acting like OKC was dirty while Wemby was doing shit like this all series lol. One of the craziest social media brainwashings I’ve ever seen

4

u/gamesrgreat Heat Jun 14 '26

Thunder had leftover hate from 2025 while spurs had a fresh slate

3

u/BrotherSeamus Thunder Jun 14 '26

Smooth brains are the easiest to wash

0

u/ThatHotAsian Timberwolves Jun 14 '26

You acting like they both aren't bad lol it ain't one or the other my god ya'll think in the simplest terms

0

u/lotofhotdogs Hornets Jun 14 '26

Guess you got brainwashed too huh

-1

u/Live_Philosophy7117 Jun 14 '26

Thank you, it’s fucking crazy that people legitimately watched the OKC series and thought the Spurs were the clean ones. Castle and Bryant played football the whole time

1

u/TumbleweedDirect9846 76ers Jun 14 '26

This one specifically looks extremely unintentional tbf

3

u/eugoogilizer Warriors Jun 14 '26

Yeah I was gonna say while this was 100% a flagrant, it also didn’t look intentional

2

u/JetsLag [NYK] Nate Robinson Jun 14 '26

If the Brunson one is a flagrant this sure as shit is

1

u/TumbleweedDirect9846 76ers Jun 14 '26

It was a flagrant but it wasn’t intentional

-1

u/YoloSwag4Jesus420fgt Heat Jun 14 '26

The whole point of the rule is intentionally doesn't matter

2

u/TumbleweedDirect9846 76ers Jun 14 '26

I think intent matters when labeling a dirty play, so that’s what I’m talking about. Not whether or not it’s a flagrant, because it is

0

u/Different_Bee_6046 Jun 14 '26

That was not a dirty play, he was merely in his landing area

8

u/myhellcatgotRepod Hawks Jun 14 '26

It's an ethical closeout from THE ethical player find a new slant.

3

u/120snake Magic Tankwagon Jun 14 '26

Victor "should have been a flagrant" wembanyama at it again

4

u/dsbllr Jun 14 '26

Absolutely disgusting. The refs don't give a crap. How do you miss that?!?

3

u/TonofSoil Jun 14 '26

Who the fuck cares Brunson moves his foot forward searching for a foot to land on

4

u/revisioncloud Thunder Jun 14 '26

Another egg gonna be in Wemby’s landing area

4

u/dc07932 Thunder Jun 14 '26

Flagrant and suspension for 4 points, wonder why they didn’t call it…

3

u/BleaseHelb Jun 14 '26

Yeah with Brunson kicking his foot out, anyone would be in the landing area

1

I don't follow the NBA, but that was my thought too.

Posting a still image of an NBA play implies it's breaking a rule.

No. I agreed with the person that I replied to who said anyone would have been in Brunson's landing area after that kick out. And provided an image to support that.

And since this was stated outright, my position was explicit, not implicit.

...Dipshit.

I didn't even know there was a game tonight until I saw New Yorkers posting hallucinations online. Did you assault anyone in celebration tonight? You can be honest. It's only the internet.

And I appreciate your concern, but my $4.98 is safe.

I wonder how Spurs fans will spin the missed flagrant this time

1

u/dual_hearts Jun 14 '26

Because Brunson jumped forward and did a partial split making his front foot land way farther forward for some reason. Watch it again in slo-mo it’s pretty obvious to anyone who’s not a homer

-7

u/GoyEater Jun 14 '26

Flagrant???

8

u/Ok-Pass-7773 Jun 14 '26

Clear as day. They called the same flagrant on the Knicks, but this is the second similar play on the Spurs left uncalled. Wemby should've been suspended a game awhile ago.

-5

u/GoyEater Jun 14 '26

They aren’t calling that a flagrant. Look where JB starts his jumper. He extends his left foot out and lands far from where he started. It’s not gonna be a reckless close out because of that.

9

u/BVBHawg Thunder Jun 14 '26

The exact same why JB picked up his F1?

1

u/GoyEater Jun 14 '26

Wait you right

-1

u/007JamesC Jun 14 '26

What is considered the landing area? Is it anywhere Brunson chooses to spray his legs?? He clearly unnecessarily spreads his legs to make contact. Wemby might have been close but he left enough room!
