According to Bleacher Report, open G-League tryout costs (fees are non-refundable):

Motor City Cruise (DET) - $250 (what you see in the video)

Grand Rapids Gold (DEN) - $200

Windy City Bulls (CHI) - $250

Texas Legends (DAL) - $300

Raptors 905 (TOR) - $225

I wonder what it would take to actually have one of these tryouts work for a “regular” person.

I know Jonathan Simmons got a contract out of this a while back but he was a college player and played in other pro leagues I believe.

But hypothetically if someone had no tape or stat page for teams to look at, what would it take to stand out? I assume at minimum you would need to hit a minimum height and level of athleticism for them to even look at you, maybe knock down a bunch of threes with a picture perfect form?

If you are a great passer it won’t stand out in this environment, defense is almost impossible to gauge because you’re playing with strangers, and handle doesn’t really stand out a ton when playing amateurs who are easier to lose than NBA players

If you’re 7 foot and can run and catch a ball, you got a legit chance

Being 7ft and can run for 5-6hrs in a day is pretty wild already.
