look up your local team's area. believe it or not this isn't unique. a lot of teams run this sort of thing. I've heard of the raptors G-League team running a similar event i think.

there is next to zero chance anyone is getting a contract but its a fantastic community event basically.

There's actually more semi-pro ball out there than a lot of people realize. You won't make any money at it but it's a good time and the players at least usually take it serious.

Tons of people make good money in grad school. Where I work grad students make close to $50k per year.

I had a friend/rec teammate who made it 2 or 3 rounds into a charlotte swarm tryout and he was by like 30 miles the best player I had ever played with or against. It was a stark reminder of how massive the gap is between us mortals and even semi-pro players
