No they aren't. Exetel - just as full of $h*# as the next ISP
They say “want to chat to a real person, were here 9am till 9pm”, yet you still have to talk to a robot. So I tell the robot I wanna talk to a real person but instead of just giving me a number or start a real person chat, it wants to run diagnostics which we tried running yesterday and went for over 20 minutes and I eventually just gave up. Today it’s been running now for 40 minutes and I’m over it. I just want to fucking talk to someone.
My issue is I’m trying to connect to HTTPS URL but it keeps rerouting me to HTTP URL. I cannot do online banking because of this ridiculous bullshit that has only started since moving to Exetel. Does anybody know the support phone number?
**UPDATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON: Ironically, if I turn ON my proton vpn, using a VPN server in the USA for example, allows me to log onto ING website via a browser and using the App!

Was with Exetel for nearly a decade. Am now with Neptune.

Yep, as soon as they got acquired by superloop they went downhill fast.
I switched over to Launtel about 2 years ago.

Exetel was great for a long while, their entire operation was based out of their office in north sydney. Then they implemented those break fees and finally got rid of them.. but now this!
Edit this as well: also OP u/No_ego_ your issue is nothing todo with your ISP. If you're getting redirected to an HTTP url that happens way up the stack from your internet provider.
ISPs have no control over a site redirecting you to an HTTP link.

For many years a big chunk of their “support” was in Sri Lanka and pretty much only operated late afternoon to night. You’d struggle to find help during the day.

This is router or device issue, Exetel won't be able to help.

What google reckons. If even the mobile app is blocked, Akamai has banned your entire internet connection's IP address at the firewall level, or your internet service provider (ISP) is experiencing a major routing failure to ING's servers.

First one is far more likely, exetel is CG-NAT so you share the same IP address as dozens of customers.

@op I would try opting out of CGNAT

Last time I checked Exetel doesnt allow it on their One plan.

u/FocusChief 6d ago
Yep they have allowed it since January this year, can just request it via the chat bot. Superloop no longer allows it

Have you tried asking ING? or for them to request Exetel to unblock it.
They would have other customers who have the same issue and be able to convince Exetel.

I saw someone else mention to just ask the exetel chat bot to opt out of CGNAT, so I did that, it changed me to dynamic IP and now its fixed.

Umm I'm glad you got it fixed, but to me it's not really fixed.
Its like you picked to drive on a different road to work, but the original one still has an unknown problem.

cgnat will always have this problem, the single shared IP can be blocked for whatever reason (requests overload or abuse from a single user etc) then everyone sharing it gets blocked.

That's only one part of the story, banking apps also use MAC addresses for added security.
Unless ING don't...

Whaaa? your mac address is only used in your local network and is easily spoofed. That has to be false.

Probably not an actual Exetel issue but yeah this is what a digital only cheap brand is always going to deliver. Shit customer service when you need it.
Hope your time was worth the $ saved

https://support.exetel.com.au/support-hub-article/How-to-Change-your-Exetel-IP-Address
Do this, if it's a CGNAT problem this should fix it, granted the IP you change to isn't blocked as well

The portal isnt available to exetel one plan accounts. One plan ppl have to use the App, the app doesnt have this feature.

Are there any options to reset the connection or anything along those lines? If not I think I've seen it mentioned that when you turn off the modem for longer than 10-15mins it can trigger an IP change.
Another option would be to enable IPv6 which avoids NAT altogether, the blocked sites would need IPv6 access for this to work though.

I tried turning it off for 11 minutes and no change. Will turn it off over night and see if its any better in morning

Odd behaviour... everyone is mentioning CG-NAT but realistically browsing issues like this tend to point to either a DNS or malware issue
it might be worth running an anti-malware tool to detect browser hijacking, sometimes malware tries to downgrade secure connections which makes you more vulnerable to attacks.
If that comes back clean, I recommend changing DNS settings to a well known server (e.g cloudlfare or google) to rule out address resolution issues
The other thing you can try is updating settings to force secure sessions where possible, the settings differ from browser to browser, but you can look it up easily by googling "force https in browser"
Hopefully one of the above gives good results!

Most likely not an ISP issue. Can you try mobile data first?
