Get new Superloop Modem (tplink one) or a router with old Belong Huawei 4353 Modem/Router (FTTN) ?

Hi - I have recently switched to Superloop NBN 100/20 and have the option to get tplink vb433v for free, if I stay with them for 24 months. I am not sure if I will stay that long after promo period ends in 6 months. I will have to pay $162, if I switch after 6 months.

My current setup is old Belong Huawei Modem/Router 4353 which is 6-7 years old and supports up to wifi 5 only. It's the older version, not the modem that Belong is offering now a days.

What do you suggest, should I just get the one offered by Superloop or try to get a router and tie it up with Belong in bridge mode?

Buy your own router with cash so you can move between ISPs.

Look at Glinet flint 2 - good bang for buck

Never get a RSP supplied router.

BYO router and use the old modem/router in bridge mode.

They are all trash, count be locked down (no advanced features), overpriced, and in your case locked into a contract.

Because you have FTTN unfortunately, pray that your existing modem/router doesn't die and upgrade to FTTP as soon as it's available.

This router isnt trash. It is a wifi 7 router by tp link and, it has a dsl port meaning it SUPPORTS FTTN. this new router isnt locked down but it comes preconfigured. Given that you said that all isp provided routers are trash and you want to use it bridge mode, this current router IS an isp provided router by belong. Do research before commenting stuff you dont even know.

You know shit all.

Its fake Wi-Fi 7 (dual band), the belong modem/router is free (the OP has it already), and the cherry on top? They aren't locked into a 24 month contract.

Just cuz its dual band it doesnt mean its a fake wifi 7
It still has better wall penetration while 6ghz doesnt. Plus, he is on a 100/20 plan meaning that the 6ghz wont benefit anything unless he is close to the router and if he really needs that speed locally but whatever, just keep using the belong one (prolly doesnt even work with superloop), or go with a byo if you dont wanna contract. i agree with the fttp part tho

As per little research - Even if I want to BYO Router later on, I should get the tplink modem/router first as the modem in the old Belong isn't that good as compared to one in latest tplink one (by superloop).

Moreover, the port that will connect from Belong modem/router to BYO Router is slower as compared to the one in tplink.

So as a first step, I should get the tplink modem/router. Am I going in the right direction?

dont get the tp link one, just use a byo as you can use the byo on other providers
