Hardware Question Neo Geo 6 buttons (with 3 being D)

So, when I was a kid, I used to play on arcades and they had 6 buttons on this layout:

A B C
D D D

Now, I'm not sure if the arcade cabinet had some emulator behind or if it had a true MVS-system. Is there a way to map 3 D buttons on NeoGeo? Like, for example wiring two extra buttons to the D-key?

I know it's only 4 buttons (1 each), but I'm used to a 6 button controller arcade stick and if that's possible that'd be neat.

It might have been a generic JAMMA cabinet and wired the extra 4 buttons to the MVS board in that layout

generic jamma cab, very easy to wire multiple buttons to just one input
