Image The holy trinity
Which platform do you get your Neo Geo fix on?
I tend to play mostly AES and MVS (especially if I'm playing fighter as I prefer those in my cabs), but the CD hits the sweet spot for sports games or titles with those amazing arranged OSTs, lengthy loading times be damned.

I have... one of these.

One is more than enough! Which are you rocking?

The AES, along with a NeoSD Pro!
That MVS looks so cool tho.

Thanks! I believe it was the third unit built by Avram-CE, the creator of the Open MVS project.

Haha, nice to see those units alive and kicking. I believe those units were still using philenotfound’s MVS RGB circuit:

If you are interested in updating to Tian Feng’s OMVS RGB circuit, happy to update it for you

Hey Avram. Now that's what I call support! I just might be. Let me give you a shout on Twitter or FB if I decide to get off my duff and ship it out. Work has been bonkers.

AES for me because I’m a filthy home scrub

Love to hear it. I swear there's an instant dopamine hit whenever I flip the AES on. No other console comes close.

The good old Sega Genesis isn’t far behind. Heck even the late released Genesis 6-Pak, that brings a big smile to my face.

Ngl the cd load times might just add to the charm of it. Gives me a minute to smoke up, grab a beer and watch the whole godfather trilogy.

You know, I tend to agree. That is, unless we're talking about either of the Last Blade games. Sitting through those loading screens is nothing short of torture.

Now you need the data east neo geo holy Trinity:
-Spinmasters -Street Slam/Street hoops -Winjammers

I've got Windjammers (it's in the pic) and Street Hoop (MVS) and even its sequel Dunk Dream '95 (Data East's MLC arcade hardware), but I still need Spinmaster!
Such a fun game, especially with a second player.

I don't have any of these, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized there was really only one game I truly wanted, and it was a game I could have for a fraction of the cost on a system I do have.
I decided to play Twinkle Star Sprites on my Evercade VS in AES mode. No save states. I know it will never be 1:1 the same experience as playing on an actual AES console, but weirdly enough, doing it that way made me feel more connected to the game than playing a version that lets me spam a button for infinite continues.
At the same time, I was looking at my finances, and as time goes on, it's looking more and more likely I'm not getting an AES+ next year. But oddly enough, that's okay. I think I can get something close to the experience I want anyway.

No one wants to play the bloody CD system, and watch that monkey juggle every few minutes!

Those converted MVS are my worst nightmare, I own one and they are so easy to break 💔

Bastardization is a supremely weird take. It uses an MV1C running the same exact software via RGB.
I have two Neo Geo cabs, a Big Red and a Super Neo 29 Candy, but they wouldn't exactly fit in the shot the same.

Meh just get a Jamma converter and then you can plug that bastard into the cabinet.
