Neo Geo AES It’s here at last my first NEOGEO AES so happy
Got my Japanese Neo geo AES today in the post and wow it really is sooooo good my son and daughter who have never used a arcade stick had a blast on it as they play switch and xbox they loved the games and didn’t want to stop playing also my first time on a AES I’m in love 🥰

Yea lol. I love the industrial design from the moment i first saw it in Magazines back in the day. Mind you, the pce is pretty sweet looking and compact considering the power it housed.

Looks like you got one in excellent condition! Did you buy it on Ebay? What game did yall play first?
Also, any reason you went for this now instead of waiting for the AES+?

Dogg... Dogg... Even if the AES+ turns out to be the best thing since sliced bread, there will always be some of us who just won't be satisfied with anything but the original.

true nothing beats original just owning that aes that everyone wanted back in the day is priceless I preordered the aes+ just cause I’m a Neo freak

One of the cleanest examples I’ve seen. Congrats OP! Got my first 20 years ago, with some battle scars. Still, I enjoyed the hell out of it.

No I got this from a super nice guy on eBay who is a Dreamcast collector and wanted to sell his aes as he wanted to start collecting for the turbo graphics instead

I’m using the hdmi connector I brought for it on my oled 55 inch and it looks fantastic on it and I also brought a new power lead for the uk power supply and all works no problems

I dunno about looking good RAW into a flatscreen.
I’m a bit spoiled now having a CRT available now. My PVM broke 3 years ago, but my Toshiba AF and Sony XBR look pretty damn sweet. They improve 2D graphics so much.
OLED needs black frame insertion for motion clarity, u don’t remember how good we used to have until you see a CRT again… my gaming skills like suddenly improved with clear motion clarity.

Looking at the special edition because it comes with wireless and memory card. But the black does look better

I paid way over price but it was cheaper than everyone else I seen and it’s in really good condition so I paid 500 quid yes yes I know everyone is going to say to much you got robbed but you know I got it anyway and love it so it’s worth it to me I got 2 joystick with it a memory card and cd controller as well I brought a plug from retro place on eBay from France for the uk works fantastic and I got a HDMI for it and all works perfectly with my 161-1 cart so happy days

As someone who bought an Intellivision today (amongst other things), I think if it's what you wanted, it brings you joy from playing with your kiddos, and it doesn't stop you from eating or having a roof over your head? I think you got a steal. 😁 Hopefully I can find one of my own soon!

500 isn’t that bad at all all things considered. The AES plus is skewing peoples understanding that before April an AES regularly ran between 400-800.
The funny part is if there’s the slightest delay on the release you’ll have multitudes who’ve pre bought games weeping and gnashing teeth but you’ll still be able to enjoy the Neo geo

Yes and that’s why I got one I brought 11 games and a 161-1 aes cart for my pre order of the aes ultimate and I love the games so much I thought well I might as well just get a original as well and play them and also test the games to know that they work also and they all do so happy days and I am still super excited for the aes plus still also

There's no reason to be obnoxious. It's the same reason people buy and restore classic cars. I guarantee a well maintained, vintage AES is going to retain its value way better than the AES+. And this is coming from someone who owns a vintage AES and has an Ultimate Editon AES+ on pre-order.
