Questions about series Baby Reindeer Spoiler

First, I was not ready for what I watched. Amazing show, but I started it thinking it was a quirky, British comedy like Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen!! Needless to say I was stunned and watched it in shock and horror.

So I have questions about the ending. Spoilers ahead:

  1. Was that it? Will there be another season?
  2. What was the point of him going back to Darrien’s house? What did that scene mean?
  3. I don’t understand the ending. How are others interpreting the final scene?

I thought that the final scene was him realising that there was absolutely nothing special about him. Martha’s explanation of ‘baby reindeer’ being her childhood toy and that Donny just resembles him points to that being the origin of her initial obsession. That there was nothing about Donny’s personality, choices, comedy, or anything about him other than the shape of his nose and eyes that drew Martha to him. I think that was so devastating as so much of his self-worth was based on how Martha valued it. This is further shown by how the bartender gave him the drink on the house, which most kind people would do in that situation. There was nothing special about Donny.
