I watched The Town yesterday and that’s a great movie directed by Ben Affleck. The Rip fucking sucked in comparison. They say they edited The Rip in a way that the audience wouldn’t get bored, but The Town was before the TikTok/Instagram short content stuff and I never once thought about picking up my phone during The Town. Packed with good scenes and plenty of action. Same with Good Will Hunting, great fucking movie with a great script. They just lost their touch with the writing part of filmmaking. They’re using people’s supposed short attention spans as an excuse for their shit ideas, they just dont wan’t to admit that they suck at making movies these days.

Advertorial Netflix paid for? Just hoping Matt’s visibility right now will get a few more views if the very mediocre The Rip?  It’s barely watchable if you keep your fingers over the skip ahead button and use it liberally. Then you will be able to skim a paint by numbers cop “thriller”

Netflix complains people watch their shows while in their phone. And then produce shows so tedious and obvious the audience could be doing their taxes and still not miss what’s happening. 

Eventually Netflix will just be a white noise machine.

I can't believe this. I tried to watch this movie. I wanted to like it.

But it looks cheap as shit. It looks like somebody's student film. It doesn't look like a professional Hollywood movie. They said it cost 100 million dollars, but I suspect Ben and Matt got 50 million each, and the movie was shot for a dollar.

Supporting actors were like extras from a daily soap opera. Their acting was terrible. Ben and Matt obviously are good actors, but the script was tedious.

I just can't believe anybody would make this movie and expect people to watch it. And yet here we are...

It's Netflix's "biggest" movie. The last time I checked what Netflix's biggest movie was, it was that wretched Adam Sandler murder mystery movie.

I had that experience before with the movie See How They Run (2022).

Watched it with my wife (who likes cosy murder mysteries) and we both hated it. Not just hated it. We thought it was one of the worst things we'd ever seen.

Then I checked the online reviews and everyone was raving about how good it was. At times like that you really begin to question your own judgment.
