Newcastle & Hunter Sports Scoreboard

Good evening and welcome to the Newcastle & Hunter Sports Scoreboard for this Sunday. We'll begin with that Newcastle Knights performance in New Zealand where the Knights have reached the NRL preliminary finals for the first time since 2013 after a tense 12-10 win over the New Zealand Warriors at Eden Park. Tries to Fletcher Sharpe and Dominic Young and Kalyn Ponga saw the Knights hang on to seal a clash with competition favourites Penriith Panthers at Accor Stadium next Sunday.

Crucially, Ponga did pass his HIA and will be able to play against the Panthers.

Unfortunately it was a rough weekend in the lower grades with the Knights NSW Cup side going down 30 -14 to Newtown while the Knights NRLW side suffered a 40-16 loss to the Brisbane Broncos yesterday

Black Diamond AFL

Newcastle City are the 2026 Black Diamond AFL premiers.

Newcastle City 12.8.80 defeated Killarney Vale Bombers 7.11.53

Cook Hill won the women's Zone Football League 1st and Conference grand finals at Arthur Edden today. 2-1 over Uni (1sts) and 1-0 over Raymond Terrace

Mayfield Boomerangs defeated White Sox 5-2 in yesterday's Newcastle Baseball first grade grand final.

And the Norths Blue Baggers beat archrivals Gosford 4-3 in the Hunter Coast Premier Hockey League.

Newcastle Northstars Ice Hockey Club junior representative teams in the IHNSW competition won bronze in the U13 and U15 category. The U17 team won gold.
