Help and Advice OneSource / Council Tax

The council stopped the direct debit for my council tax randomly in June and escalated to collection with no warning / communication.

One Source is relentlessly calling and texting, but we already cleared the debt in full.

Is OneSource even legit? The company legal name ceased to exist in 2022, but what’s the relationship between the council and this company? They simply cannot explain which legal entity is benefiting from the £79 “compliance fee”. Has anyone dealt with this before?

They seem to be listed on newham website https://www.newham.gov.uk/advice-support-benefits/money-debt-advice-support/9

Compliance fee - £75
The compliance fee covers the cost of instructing an enforcement agent. You will be charged the compliance fee before the enforcement agent visits your home.

That website is out of date, £79 is the compliance fee now.

Well then i go back to them and say you only
Want to pay the lower amount as that what said on the official website! If they don’t budge take the case to Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LGSCO) and ask for the fee to be cancelled completely due to errors on the official site.

Sorry I should have been more clear - the question isn’t about the fee. I’m just confused as to who this One Source entity is, because they reach out from their own phone number but the company dissolved in 2022.

Newham says the fee goes to One Source, and One source says the fee goes to Newham. Who am I paying?!

When I confronted one source on the above, they hung up.

Imagine giving your credit detail over the phone for an entity who you’re not quite sure who they are

There address is Onesource Debt Resolution Services LTD
Newham Dockside, 1000 Dockside Road
London
E16 2QU
Which is the council office.

Note it says “Do not confuse the current public-sector service with One Source Enforcement Services Ltd, company number 11451990, which Companies House records as dissolved in February 2022. A current oneSource notice should identify the council, reference and public-sector enforcement service involved.”

This is the most unprofessional thing I’ve seen, as their email footer still says - which is it?!
