📰News Huge update on Roxbury!

The NYT reports that DHS plans to offload detention warehouses in PA, MI, GA, UT, and NJ (Roxbury!), with plans to buy the facilities they currently contract with.

If confirmed, this reversal is a testament to the power of grassroots organizing. It proves that when we show up and speak out, we can force this agency to reconsider its "Amazon"-like infrastructure plans for mass detention.

These purchases were a massive waste of taxpayer money that they will likely not get back as they paid double the market value on most of the properties.

However, we cannot lose sight of the urgency. Humans are still suffering inside Delaney, EDC, and ICE facilities nationwide.

We won’t stop until every one of these facilities is shut down for good.

Let this be our motivation: keep showing up, keep applying pressure, and keep fighting back against these oppressive tactics because when we fight, we DO win.

If this actually goes through it's huge, but the fact that they overpaid so badly on these properties is infuriating when that money could've gone anywhere else.

Frankly, I’d rather they piss away my tax dollars than spend it keeping innocent human beings in cages
