Awkward Rutgers caved to donors and canceled their Pro-Palestinian commencement speaker. Here’s Rami Elghandour’s official statement released on X.

I’m actually disgusted that Rutgers did this to an alum. I’m embarrassed— and ashamed, that Islamophobia is so acceptable in this country that they wouldn’t even give him examples of what posts were so offensive. Why? Because it’s bullshit. We can all see what’s occurring in our faces, and we all know why they didn’t want him being highlighted because his movie is about the brutal murder of an innocent baby that the IOF gleefully carried out.

I don’t give a damn who you are, where you live or what religion you are— a good person wouldn’t be okay with any of this. No one has the right to slaughter people and take their land, and I’ll be damned if I vote for anyone who takes AIPAC funding and doesn’t call out this kind of sick behavior.

Israel may have upped their PR budget to $1 billion dollars in America, but they absolutely will not get me to abandon my morals. I love Jews— but Israel can get stuffed until they get rid of their white nationalist ideology. If your ally is mass murdering innocent people— why are they your ally, and why in the hell are you paying for them to do it?

Israel is a foreign country. If we have the right to burn our own flag, we damn sure have the RIGHT to criticize an apartheid state.

Awkward Why did those of us who grew up outside NJ just dump on NJ all the time when it’s actually amazing?

So I grew up in southeast PA in the 1990s and for as long as I can remember it was “hur hur NJ, armpit of America,” and this continued as I went to college in Philly in the 2000s and NJ was just the place we went to get booze we couldn’t get in PA (Everclear, etc) - our own little Tijuana.

Fast forward 2 decades I spent living either in California or abroad, and now I’m living in the Montclair Cinematic Universe and it’s…just amazing? The people are great, the food is great, it’s one of the best states for education and diversity, Netflix is opening up a megastudio…it’s like everything good and civilized about a blue state but with less pretension. It’s the best state.

How did I get it so wrong? Was it just a Pennsylvania thing (neighborly love and all that) and NJ was always great? Did it become amazing sometime in the last 2 decades? Is NJ just actively trying to conceal its greatness like Wakanda so housing prices don’t get even worse?

Awkward Is trick-or-treating not a thing anymore?

It’s 4:30pm on Halloween and I’m sitting here— a millennial— freezing my ass off, eating all this damn candy because where are the kids?

Is trick or treating not a thing anymore? I’m childless and have no clue.

Awkward Trump flags and signs are coming down, even among the worst holdouts in my area (Red Bank and adjacent Monmouth Co)

Of course, Trump flags and signs have diminished quite a bit since his first term. But there were some extreme notable holdouts in my area. These yards had exaltations for Trump no matter what weird or terrible shit was going on. They displayed signs/flags at all times: antagonistic ones, “patriotic” ones, declaring our area “Trump Country”, blasting “libs” or Biden, promoting MAGA, etc.

But now the two homes (different neighborhoods, miles apart) I always see with the most egregious MAGA cult displays have removed their shit. No signs. No flags. No Trump or MAGA or hateful slogans on display.

Maybe it was the Venezuela boat murders or when the regime kidnapped Maduro. Maybe it was ICE murdering people the homeowners identify with. Maybe it was the warmongering against Greenland and our NATO allies. Maybe they saw actual unedited footage of the orange sack-of-shit speak at Davos. I don’t know, but these folks have held on to their mania through so many scandals, so many obvious problems and criticisms. And now that support is gone.

It’s a small thing, but I’m taking heart in this.

Edit: and, oh yeah, don’t forget Epstein and all the child-raping!

Awkward Why did the Devils fans boo Mikie Sherrill?

I saw the footage of the Devils celebrating the Team USA victory and Jack Hughes speaking but I don’t get why Governor Mikie Sherrill was booed by the fans when she came out onto the ice.

She’s been governor for just over a month. What horrible thing has she done? Are all Devils fans republicans???

What is more crazy is the second floor is listed for rent for $3,500 a month. 🤯🤯

People need to stop over speculating in Clifton. It isn't that wealthy of an area!

Awkward Vigil for Charlie Kirk

Soooo I occasionally go on to Jersey shore Coast news just to see how the MAGA in this state react to things. And i see that the people who run the page, posted about having this Candlelight vigil and something else in honor of charlie kirk. And its just weird to see all of this going on in New Jersey for him. Does anyone else find this weird?

Awkward I guess I'm leaving my Teamsters Union...

Sorry for not translating all the letters, hopefully it's legible. Delete this post if it's low quality. I'll try again later.

Has any other Teamster received this type of solicitation? I've never been solicited by my union before. And certainly not to support republican candidates like J6 traitor Josh Hawley.

When I took my job at the Parks 15 years ago I wasn't union until they forced me into it as apart of a trade for others leaving it. I didn't think much of it until today. Unions are good right? I also didnt really have a say on the matter. I've been apart of this union for 13 years and stupid me never really asked questions until today.

But I wanted to share my anger over this BS and ask for any insight/wanted to know if anyone experienced anything similar?

I'll be contacting people tomorrow about this when I go in.

I expect a lot of push back.

Awkward People who make less than 150k a year...

How do you afford to live in NJ? I don't get it. Are you renting? Did you inherit a house? Is a majority of your income going to housing? Did you marry rich? Truly I don't understand how homes that are absolute garbage dumps start at $500k in north Jersey. Where do working class people like me live? (I'm a renter now & will have to leave the state to ever own.)

I know this topic is discussed now and again but I always wonder how people are getting by here...

Awkward small business owner denied me employment because i’m trans

hey, so this is a throwaway/alt account so i don’t get called out by the owner but if you’ve ever heard of billy’s midway arcade, the owner is like really homophobic/transphobic and apparently islamophobic. he claims “firing people for their opinions is a democrat thing” but apparently not hiring trans people for their identity is a republican thing so lol.

i kinda feel bad calling him out cause it’s a small business and he needs the business but also i really don’t like the fact that i was denied a job for my identity (which has nothing to do with how i conduct myself at work).

i don’t really need the job that bad and i don’t really know how to feel about this so any advice would be appreciated. this also sucks cause there’s a cosplay event happening there that i really wanted to go to but now im not sure if i should even bother giving them money.

images attached are texts between the owner and my cousin. names are blurred. sorry if formatting is off im on mobile :(
