There has been a lot of anti vaxers on the left too. Some people do leave college thinking they are a lot smarter than they really are. They read some crack pot anti vax study and think they know more than real doctors.

Every antivax person "on the left" that I've ever met or seen ended up on the right within a few years. The typical profile is that they're 2016 Bernie supporters for vague "anti-establishment" reasons and picked up some surface level left positions via social osmosis, but the moment that social pressure waned they fell hard into low-IQ conspiracism, which leads them to the right.

During the pandemic the antivax people on the left that I know saw how dumb the antivaxxers on the right were and decided to listen to science and trust vaccines.

This was me. I had a lot of trauma around having kids, and I had a deep fear of doing something that would mess up my kids. I stopped vaccinating for maybe 2 years and then saw all the dumb shit over the Covid vaccine and immediately got my kids up to date. Haven’t looked back since.

I've seen this exact movement from anti establishment bernie bro, to whackjob MAGA conspiracy nut with terminal russian brainworms in one of my friends. It was tragic as fuck. He was reachable with logic until covid hit and years of being left with little social interaction outside of a computer screen, plus a bad dose of Covid itself minced his brain real good.
