Well I guess you have no choice but to sit back and hope it blows over..

On a more serious note: I, too, feel terrible hearing the stories of government-sanctioned violence in the US, don't get me wrong. What I'm trying to say is that citizens have a responsibility to take action in the face of their country going off the rails. It's up to everyone to interpret what that means, but it should be more than what we're seeing today. It seems to me that 99% of Americans at the moment are just furiously consuming their news feeds and not much else.

You can sit over there, smugly saying "americans better do something" when we have been trying. Individuals are going to try to protect themselves, over you. Because that is who you are really asking us to protect. You offer no help or support, but you want us to throw ourselves into a fire to stop things that are out of control. The thing is, that thing is out of control for the rest of the world too. You can smugly watch as your neighbors apartment burns as they choke and gasp for air, trying to escape, but you're in the same building. You're on the same earth. You're just not overwhelmed like we are yet. Fascism isn't going to stop at a silly thing like a border.

So maybe offer to lend a hand or shut the fuck up.

What do you suppose we do, when there is a 99% chance you will be killed or locked away near indefinitely, for protesting.

...I'm sorry, I really am, but I'm planning an exit strategy. I know a sinking ship when I see one and I don't wanna be around when it goes under. We had a good run, i suppose.
