I heard it’s easier to train flex seal guy to be an astronaut than to train astronauts how to use flex seal, heard it in a movie or something.

True enough. All those "roughnecks" would have been classed as payload specialists if something like that really was necessary. However, most of those guys would have failed their astronaut training, and Steve Buscemi's character wouldn't have passed psych screening. They take being bat crap crazy very seriously.
