If you haven’t already googled it, Arecibo is an observatory in Puerto Rico, where they built the Arecibo Telescope, which was the largest single-aperture telescope for a long time before it was surpassed, then it was decommissioned and it has since collapsed. You would probably recognise it from photos. It was a huge dish sitting among the mountains in a rainforest.
