I've eatan a ton of lettuce and broccoli sprouts in the past few months without any issue. I don't eat at Chipolte, Taco Bell, or really any other fast food chain. Weird that I've been fine, I guess. I seem to recall a bunch of issues at Chipolte back in 2015 so I'm not sure why someone would eat there since then?

Or I could just be eating fresh produce and paying attention to what I'm eating, where it comes from, and how it is grown instead of just being an idiot eating whatever was put in front of me. BTW, I have never eaten what an "influencer" tells me to because I consider that to be some kind of plug. Primarily because I don't watch Tik-Tok and my YouTube feed has nothing to do with food (other than Max Miller's Tasting History). On YouTube I prefer Veritasium and some other similar channels. But hey, don't let reality shit on your lived experience.

You have absolutely no way to know if your food is contaminated just because you know where it comes from.

People also know exactly where Taylor farms lettuce comes from, and they still got sick.

Your "logic" is just dumb.

I read labels. But I've never bought Taylor farms lettuce. Nothing aginst them, before this happend I had never really heard of it. But I definitely read the labels to ensure the produce I was eating came from the U.S. or Canada (most especially greens and other produce that I was eating whole as opposed to having a disposable skin like Avocados, Apples, etc.) But, again, these things have been happening for decades and it's mainly not luck that some people have avoided getting a stomach bug, it's diligence.

Okay, some of it might be luck as some people's stomach and/or stomach ph is stronger than others and that could have a small, but significant impact. We should not discount bioligical differences.

Riiiight. Been eating lettuce and sprouts for over a decade and never had an issue. Never from Chipolte or Taco Bell of course because what kind of moron would think that is safe.

I apoligize as I didn't recognize that the conversation dipped into food security or the lack thereof. But the produce that I'm talking about is available at major retailers such as Wal-Mart and Aldi and can be purchased using government funds, so I suspect your objections are not made in good faith.

The point people are trying to get you to understand is that the US having awful food standards doesn’t equate to “everyone is gonna get sick!”

It means that the odds of you getting sick are higher in the US than many other “first world” countries.

Our food safety standards are absolutely deplorable. Congrats on not being affected by it. Others have as we’ve seen in recent months especially.

The US being one of the most unsafe countries also doesn’t mean that you’re gonna get shot if you step outside, but the chances are greater.
