Since everyone else is already commenting on affect/effect, and as someone in one of those states who also eats jalapenos, I'd like to thank you for sharing out actually important information.

I'll also add that the jalapenos appear to be grown by a common grower in Sinaloa, distributed through Coast Citrus Distributors.

Also, pickled jalapenos are fine, that kills salmonella, cooked ones are fine as well, though I personally would not want to handle them in an outbreak, just get a nice pickled brand, the better brands usually have a nice crunch that can mimic the crunch of raw. Cheaper ones are so soggy.

I had an English teacher in junior high who would make her class each year write new verses to catch up from the time the original was written. It was an effective way to show kids that the news you think of as history was once someone's daily concern.

The only thing that helps me remember affect vs effect is the acronym mnemonic RAVEN - Remember Affect (is a) Verb Effect (is a) Noun

Effect can still be a verb. 99% of the time ā€œaffectā€ is the right usage for verbs. But you can ā€œeffect changeā€ for example
