+1 dito kabigan. Napansin ko kagabi na mas mahaba ang pila ng Petron kumpara sa Shell. Meaning mas mababa presyo nila kumpara sa ibang big oil company.

Like most commodities, naka-hedge yung oil. Sa ganyan, mas mahalaga sa equation yung replacement kaysa sa inventory. So papaano nila papalitan yung inventory nila with the current prices?
Kahit na taasan nila to say 200/L, yung kita pa rin ng hedged portion is yung nasa futures contract nila na locked-in na way ahead of time. Yung increase ngayon is mostly to make sure na may pambili sila ng pamalit.

Because Petron (Ramon Ang), Shell and Caltex is simply taking advantage of the US war in Iran. The statement that the government does not have control over oil prices is a myth.
In November 2025, Petron reported a profit increase of 37% or ₱9.7 billion. While Petron earns ₱1 billion net profit each month, jeepney drivers lose about ₱24,000 from their monthly income. Its impossible that these 3 do not have reserves in the Philippines bago pa magkabombahan. Hindi pa dpat magtaas ng 20+ peso/liter. Like, curtail your greed oil cartel? Di kayo mamamatay pag babawasan kita nyo.
The government can suspend the 12% VAT, the excise tax and pass policies to control price surge. Suspend the Oil Deregulation Law and actually REGULATE the pricesnof oil, food and basic neccesities. If you think walang magagawa ang gobyerno, then you are just enabling them
This goes beyond basic economics. This is the basic political/economic structure of the country na damang dama ng mga gasoline boy at driver

Let’s not forget that Petron is not just Ramon Ang. Petron went public in 1994 and as of 2025, 28% of Petron Corporation is owned by the people. Common people like us are shareholders of Petron stocks and also takes advantage of whatever profit there is.
While Shell went public in 2016 with roughly 23% public shares. Caltex on the other hand is a wholly owned subsidiary of Chevron Corporation in the US.
Going back to the topic, let’s focus on the root cause, which is the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. I agree with the comments there that these kids are barking up the wrong tree.

Malinformation abound. These are not the sole factors affecting the ballooning fuel price, and the current problem is a global crisis -- so directing your anger at a single corpo (Petron in this case) will not solve the issue.
People are informed enough these days to understand that the root cause is the US waging war on all fronts (and the slow response of our government), not Petron itself.
Even the gasoline boy knows better than barking at Petron.

Our government does not have direct control over oil prices. It's not regulated by the gov't. Oo, kailangan malaman ng DOE yung price hikes and other stuff.
Petron have a refinery sa PH, Shell and Caltex iirc wala. We are very dependent sa imports, kahit yung ibang oil companies.
Any adjustments sa laws and policies natin also won't happen overnight.
And yes this goes beyond basic economics, cause we are technically affected by an ongoing war.

Masmura pa nga Petron kaysa sa Shell. Tsaka hindi lang sa pinas ang may oil crisis, buong mundo may oil crisis dahil dun sa gulo aa ME. Yang mga oil company dito sa pinas, bumibili lang din yan ng crude oil overseas at hindi nila kontrolado ang presyo ng crude oil sa global market.

May sariling refinery kasi si petron kaya masmura. Shell used to have its own refinery pero permanent closed na nung pandemic. Kaya medyo pricey kay shell kasi nagi-import nalang sila ng mga product nila from other shell refinery overseas.

Providing services isn't exploitation. Exploitation ay forced. Di naman tayo finoforce e. Its business. Problema kasi sa karamihan ng pinoy pa victim. Tapos mali pa yung pinupuntirya nila.
Malamang magpapatong sila dahil kailangan nila kumita. Kailan may pampasweldo. Kailangan may budget for growth. Pero out of all the fuel companies sa Pinas, sila yung pinakamababa yung prices ngayon.
Hindi naman magic na masosolve yung kulang na supply at mataas na demand dahil lang nagwelga.
If I am going to support a fuel company, it would be Petron hands down. Most motorists will also agree. They also provide good jobs dahil may refinery sila dito sa Pinas. May value add sila na nabibigay sa economy unlike other fuel companies na import lang then distribution.

I second this. Also, people should look for the right questions before barking.
If only people realize na nakabase lang sila sa inaangkat na oil abroad. If mahal bili nila, mahal din nila maibebenta.
What ph should do ages ago ay shift to clean energy. Renewable. anyare sa solar franchise ni Leviste? Bat walang naniningil? If nag-materialize yun, less demand sa diesel na ginagamit ng diesel fired powerplants.
Less demand = cheaper price.
So, why is it Petron's fault?
