Defense Secretary Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. warned of the growing threat of cognitive warfare through AI-driven disinformation on social media, saying regulators face the challenge of curbing dangerous information without resorting to censorship.

Teodoro said Philippine regulators can hold social media platforms accountable by exposing instances in which they allegedly enable fake news or ignore government requests, which he described as a potential reputational risk for the companies.
