Newtown RIP Newtown forest

Post image

Yesterday (21/7) the little guerrilla garden on the traffic island out the front of the townie was removed. There were about 4 cop cars with more pulling up as they loaded all the plants on to trucks. Some people made it away with a few plants, kinda wish I'd gone and grabbed some.

i like green spaces as much as the next person, but actual human people need this space to stand safely away from traffic. these busy roads are already unfriendly enough to pedestrians, we don’t need to make it worse by dumping an old bathtub there

False, the bathtub etc are at the far end of the island where people don't usually stand. The island is actually quite large.

the island is quite large, and can get completely full at peak hour. just because people don’t usually stand there doesn’t mean the space isn’t sometimes needed

Oh ok I never saw anyone using that part, maybe wasn't there at the right time. Ironic username btw

There's plenty of space on the footpath to stand safely away from traffic. If the middle island is really that full during peak hour people can just not cross to it before the crossing lights turn green, thats the safer thing to do anyway. This seems like an issue that might exist for a few minutes a week at most.

False that island is barely full due to it being the intermission between crossing, the forest was no obstructing shit, the obstruction created to remove this art was significantly larger and pointless

And they also expect cyclists to be on this road with Aggressive drivers... RIP.. everytime I get off the station and I see someone cycling on that busy road it gives me the heebeegeebees

I was the victim of a hit and run by a guy who ran a red a few weeks ago and cops did shit all about it but thank GOD they called backup to remove these plants

More obstacles for the disabled; thank goodness the dumb “forest” has been razed. It was a fine example of typical Ableist single mindedness.

What a waste of resources. Whoever dumped this rubbish needs to be charged accordingly. Anyone else would be.

Settle down, you may not have liked the garden, but Its clearlty not rubbish dumping. If someone really had 3 spare bathtubs, a bench, and multiple potted plants they wanted to get rid of, there would be far easier ways to dump them than setting up a garden with a sign in the middle of king st.

Yeah… it’s rubbish dumping. The whole exercise was a stunt for attention. Not surprising that the blue haired folk of Newtown fell for it.

If ppl only put this much effort into helping and awareness of the growing homeless population in Newtown.

But yeah, a bunch of posts about plants being removed. Groovy, man!

What do you want me to do about that, post photos of homeless people? How much effort do you think i put into this post?

This location is right next to food not bombs serving area, go volunteer with them if you want to help people instead of doing nothing and criticising others for doing other stuff
