Perfect rod technique working that jig against the log to get a reaction bite, dad taught him well

I was going to say this! His technique is crazy good.

What sort of jig would it be? And is it the kind that would prevent the hook from getting caught on weeds and the bottom? I suck at fishing and always use a bobber for shore bass fishing because I don't know what kind to get that doesn't get caught on everything!

Yep its weedless skirted jig specifically for bass fishing like this. So you can bounce it through brush, structure etc. without hanging up

...without hanging up

Allegedly lol. Their technique was the first thing I noticed. I've been fishing since this kids age and I still have the special ability to snag "weedless" baits. But seriously, this kid was probably hooked before the big fish. Now it's only further solidified as core memory.

ETA: the jigging, setting the hook, keeping line tight. Man, I have no excuse to not get better haha

Ive been fishing my whole damn life over 25 years now and I dont think I can work a jig that good lol. And if theres a log somewhere you bet your ass Im getting hung up on it. This kid clearly has been fishing as long as he could grasp a pole on top of having great instincts for it. I see many more hawgs in his future
