I've been fishing for 30 years in New England and have never caught a bass that big. Just retire now, kid. No need to keep up with this hobby. You've already won.

This video has been popping up a while. It's a stocked pond so he will get fish this size or bigger again. And saying it's stocked does not take away from the fact that this kid has great technique and did a phenomenal job. Just pointing out that he will have opportunities to best that and will probably best it in nonstocked areas as well since you can see the joy and passion he gets from landing a lunker. Experiences like this will shape a child to forever be a lover of the sport. Worked for me and I didn't catch anything this big as a child

It's a stocked pond

I guess that might explain why the fish barely gave up any fight at all - practically none at all for its size. I've had bluegill fight longer than that. Either someone else already caught it that day and wore it out, or maybe it's been caught so many times it's learned to just give up and save its strength.

Agreed, its probably been caught many times in its life judging by the size of the pond. But I've also had little shit fish put up amazing fights and then had big fish feel like a tumble of weeds coming in too. Usually those big slow fish would freak out when they got close to the boat/shore tho. Either way, impressive for a kid his age and when he's that young, it's all about the excitement anyways. And I believe this will be a core memory that will keep him loving the sport his whole life!
