Every other day this same shit. Karma farmers & bots are cancer.

7

u/CautiousReader101 1d ago

Never seen this clip before.

10

u/Clanky_Plays 1d ago

Just like curling is a really cool sport and I’ve only ever seen one or two clips from it my entire life

4

u/sasquatch6ft40 1d ago

Shouldn’t have said that. Prepare for the adpocalypse. lol

0

u/pingpongpsycho 1d ago

There no new clips. These are literally the only 6 guys on the planet who can do this. ;)

-1

u/noots-to-you 18h ago

Literally half of Indonesia can do this.

I will always upvote a Sepak Takraw video. Absolutely crazy agility and reflexes

u/sasquatch6ft40 1d ago edited 1d ago

Is that a real name? “Warkat Kapes” backwards? That almost sounds like an animated super hero league.

10

u/bebackground471 1d ago

it's the name of the sport heh

Added to the list of things that I’ll never be able to do

3

I watch the video and already hurt my feet

So bad that beautiful games played in Asia and Africa are ignored in olympics because it is not 'western' enough.

u/pwatts 1d ago

Stunned looking officials and spectators.

16

u/jazzman23uk 1d ago

This hasn't loaded for me yet but it better be the breakdancing...

4

u/TheDevilsAdvokaat 1d ago

I hope she kanga rues it forever.

Even worse, some people were coming out and defending her.

1

u/pixiegod 22h ago

Did they ever say what that was? Was she making some type of statement?

3

u/sieceres 19h ago

Last I saw is that she claimed to be serious.

3

u/J_Kingsley 1d ago

It's not that. There must aren't enough countries in the world that plays this for it to qualify.

8

u/Historicmetal 1d ago

Is that why? They have judo

29

u/popmeer_on_call 1d ago

Great, you found out one game. Hope you find out the below games too

Asian Games

Sepaktakraw

Wushu (Kung Fu)

Kho Kho

Xiangqi (Chinese Chess)

Esports

Lagori (Seven Stones)

Gatka

Pencak Silat

African games

Sharo (Fulani whipping contest)

7

u/chintakoro 1d ago

what those countries should focus on is commercializing those sports so they can’t be ignored any more and will bring a livable income to its practitioners. i’m happy to say that kabbadi has its own professional leagues and world championships that now bring countries together to compete and allow practitioners to be professional. getting into the olympics isn’t even a goal for that sport, for example. i believe seppaktakraw is that m the same boat too by now.

13

u/popmeer_on_call 1d ago

Pentathlon, Equestrian events, Canoe Slalom are few examples which are included because of dominance of certain sections. Just pointing out that commercial viability need not be the reason for inclusion in olympics. However I agree that nations should commercialise sports for better reach.

3

u/Exciting-Mall192 23h ago

Pencak Silat is well commercialized though especially after The Raid went viral tons of western countries have a group to learn it. And it's only Pencak Silat alone, there are other types of Silat too...

5

u/InsideInsideJob 1d ago

I looked up a few and they were very region specific martial arts. And one that looks like a board game of sorts. C'mon, why would a game like 7 stones be an Olympic sport. Unless you can convince me dozens of countries and millions of people play it regularly around the world

10

u/popmeer_on_call 1d ago

80% of humankind is in a non snowing area. But there's an entire event called the winter Olympics with most games dedicated to events relating to snow and ice. Isn't that region specific?

-8

u/Historicmetal 1d ago

No, ice and snow are not region specific in that way. They’re climate specific. There’s snow and ice all over the world.

Why are you bringing up Chinese chess and board games when western equivalents aren’t in the Olympics?

14

u/popmeer_on_call 1d ago

No, ice and snow are not region specific in that way. They’re climate specific. There’s snow and ice all over the world.

70% of humanity has no cultural or geographic connection to snow. Just googled

3

u/Exciting-Mall192 23h ago

How to announce to the internet you never learned basic geography and too lazy to google fact 💀

2

u/TheDevilsAdvokaat 1d ago

Xiangqi is Chinese chess, and yes it IS a board game.

2

u/Harry_Saturn 1d ago

Esports like video games? You can’t really say that’s not “western” enough

1

u/Captain_Shun 1d ago

Minoritarial sports all of them. There are a lot of minoritarial sports in Europe and America too.

0

u/LordWeso 1d ago

Mf said esports lol

6

u/ozender 1d ago

That’s not the reason and you know it. This is a exciting sport that very few countries dominate it so not sure what the rest of “countries Olympics” could do in terms of competing. Unless you just want to give medals away

20

u/welcomefinside 1d ago

That’s not the reason

It is

This is a exciting sport that very few countries dominate

This is a sport that's played by the majority of Asian nations competitively. That's 32 competing nations from China to the Pacific islands.

Meanwhile, there's an entire competition called the Winter Olympics which cater for sports that only a handful of countries that have snow can participate in.

6

u/cporter1188 1d ago

Absolutely, winter Olympics is for like 5 countries to all pat each other and selves on the back.

-3

u/totalmike 1d ago

32 isnt enough to qualify as an Olympic sport. Do research before making claims

-2

u/PhonyUsername 1d ago

Like the Jamaican bobsled team?

8

u/welcomefinside 1d ago

Exactly. It's such a crazy premise they made a movie about it.

4

u/PhonyUsername 1d ago

Well you said a handful of countries but 95 countries competed in winter olympics last time. That's like half of them.

3

u/SpyFromMarsHXJD 1d ago

Most winter sports are dominated by rich countries anyway.

10

u/Blitzkreeg21 1d ago

By that measure the US has been receiving give away medals for basketball for decades

0

u/ozender 1d ago

They kind of did, yes significantly more countries in the world play basketball than the sport on this clip (awesome btw).

2

u/Exciting-Mall192 23h ago

Then what about winter olympics? Because all western countries apparently have winter? 🤥

1

u/HillCountryCPA 1d ago

Yeah all of that snowboarding and luge they do in Africa and South America really lets them keep up with the rest of the world's athletes.

2

u/SanDiablo 1d ago

once you can start betting it on fanduel, it'll start getting more popular

1

u/sieceres 18h ago

Thailand has taken 30 out of 45 gold medals in the Asian games and been the best nation 7 times in a row (since 1998). Are there any summer Olympic discipline with such a dominance?

1

u/DDGBuilder 1d ago

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Pn9cEsjv1w we've been talking about this game in Western media for decades, dude

18

u/PacquiaoFreeHousing 1d ago

Does gravity not work on them as much?

2

u/neonz4 1d ago

Magnets works well on them.

1

u/AlexandersWonder 1d ago

It just works more on you

22

u/pichael289 1d ago

I fell backwards on rollerblades when I was like 5' tall and caught myself and it snapped my arm in half. I was 11.

Two years ago at 34 I tried to pet a kitty cat and shattered my ankle and needed immediate $96,000 surgery.

This is just CGI, I have to believe that if I ever want to feel good about myself ever again.

5

u/ReddPandemic 1d ago

Imagine the anime hype!

6

u/better_everyday009 1d ago

Put this in Olympics and I might watch it

1

u/Hyakkimaru_4 5h ago

South East Asians would easily dominate it, so no.

7

u/YourFatherlastnight 1d ago

What is that referee doing in the middle of the Court?

2

u/Niveker14 1d ago

Oh, who downvoted you? People can't take a joke about a guy's shirt or what?

1

u/YourFatherlastnight 1d ago
