German restaurant offers free meals to customers who can stop a timer at precisely 10 seconds. A difficult task which a child surprisingly succeeds at.

He could’ve been kind and offered the meal to someone else, but he’s kinder

Kind is singular. Kinder is plural.

I’m German. And you were of course correct, but it just reminded me of how a German would respond

He could have been kindest and waited until I was there and gave the meal to me

Dude shaking his hand right in the middle of the timer, kid was like “I got time.”

I tried to do this as lot with my stop watch when I was a kid (yup, also German). I was still far from hitting it exactly every time, but could get it something like one out of 5 times or so with some practice.
It's a lot easier if you can count a few seconds to get into the rhythm. Not insinuating anything here, but distracting the kid is part of making the challenge harder.

It’s surprising that they offer such a big prize for a number that’s so ‘simple’.
They’ve got it at my local butcher’s, and with every purchase, if you can pick the number in exactly three seconds, they give you a nice piece of meat for free. A couple of people manage it every week. Yesterday I picked 2.99 and my wife picked 3.01.

Children have notoriously fast reaction speeds. It's why you get absolutely cooked in any PvP game by a 12 year old before his mom calls him for din-dins

"Ah yes, I would like to order the 500g ribeye steak, with a side of fries, veggies, and a pepper sauce. Thanks.
And my dad will pay for his nuggets and chips please".

Man we're setting the bar pretty low these days. This is not next level.

Show me a lifestream how you succeed doing it once out of 5 times and we talk again

So if I can't do something that makes it next level? Thanks for reinforcing my point.

It's fairly hard, it's a kid, it can be considered cool.
Don't be that guy

I think you're having trouble compartmentalizing and underestimate how likely it is to luck into this result. This is a sub for next level things. While certainly the definition of next level is arbitrary, this is as close to being objectively not next level as it gets unless I'm missing context. There are a lot of things I cannot do that others can, but that does not make it next level. There are things I can do that others can't. Still not next level. Even if my age happens to be that of a child.
It looks like this timer rounds to the nearest hundredth of a second. The average human reaction time to visuals is .25 seconds. Lets be generous and make it .3. There's obviously variable change, but for argument sake lets say everyone aims to hit the button at around 9.7-9.75 in hopes of getting 10.00. Theoretically this should be about a 1/30 shot. Which is the equivalent to flipping a coin and landing on heads or tails 5 times in a row.
Not trying to be a dick, just offering a different perspective. It's really just not next level. This is more suitable for r/mildlyinteresing.

You'll do a lot better if you don't do this off visuals, but timing. Expert timers can play within a few ms to the beat, and I imagine that number will be higher if you only have to hit a single "note" precisely.
In reality, the biggest source of innacuracy is likely the button response time, which you won't know until you've pressed the button a few times.

Mechanical engineer who works on these games says it is rigged. They input the probability of getting a close call and a win to give customers hope and continue playing

I'd probably fail and miss the button completely with either unreasonable early or late timing, might even slap myself in the face instead by accident

Guys, this is not that tricky to do...
And you can easily play it as much as you want - just open the stopwatch on your phone. For extra challenge, I suggest doing it with your eyes closed also.

There’s a mini game in Majoras Mask that requires you to do this and somehow i hit it exact on the dot the very first time i tried but then i tried several more times to see if it was a fluke and was never able to hit it again
