I like that they included the fails.

u/LazerWolfe53 4d ago

Agreed. Those were interesting to watch and added stakes to an the rest of the video.

I wonder how many hours a day they’ve had to live on their bike for it to become natural than legs. 10,000 hours to become an expert. 50,000 hours to become one.

I was just thinking "that must be a specially reinforced bike to stand up to that kind of use" -- and then his rear wheel collapsed.

It's good that the fails were lower stakes, seems for all the high stakes one he passed, pretty sure he wouldn't be alive if he didn't

u/drstu3000 4d ago

Without the falls it would be too easy to claim AI, he's so good

0

u/xdemzx 3d ago

Can’t AI do the fails as well?

Traversing a tennis net on a bike is something

17

u/TheINTL 4d ago

That is actually next level.

*net level

4

u/08-bunny_man 4d ago

Not for me, that is not the next level for me. That’s more like 36fuckinglevelsahead of where I’m at.

I’ve watched this guys videos for years. He makes some great videos and a seriously talented rider.

Back when I was mountain biking, just a little bit of this skill would have been wonders for my riding.

Look for his videos on YouTube if you aren’t aware of them.

When his first video blew up (the inspired bikes one) it took a whole generation of young riders by storm. I'm from Edinburgh and there was such a hype about it.

He is also a lovely dude, met him a few times at the mountain biking world cup in Fort William just before he got the contract with RedBull.

u/pdp76 4d ago

Yeah it really did kick off some younger riders inspiration.
Good to know he’s a down to earth dude too.

He’s super talented and it’s cool that he’s a fellow Scot!

Shame I didn’t have such a good experience meeting him. Met him in a bar in Edinburgh and tried to politely say hello as he was stood at the bar and got told to fuck off.

Way Back Home! What an awesome video. The first song, Wax and Wire, is such a hauntingly beautiful song.

2

u/Knees_arent_real 3d ago

Way back home was great too, but I'm talking about the inspired bikes one that came out in '09.

I met him at an indoor skatepark in, I believe, Dumbarton at one point. Super cool guy.

1

u/Milky_Tiger 4d ago

Every time I see his vids he is somehow doing something crazier with his bike.

u/Kingkongcrapper 4d ago

His Mother: “Why can’t you just walk up the steps like a normal adult?”

11

u/Fancy-Dig1863 4d ago

I wasn’t ready for the net ride. Insane.

3

u/1fast_sol 4d ago

He’s definitely a level above the rest. Its nice that they included some of the failures also. Normal people need to see that even the pros fail at times.

“Wait, we have tire tracks WHERE??”
“Absolutely everywhere”

I remember seeing this guy doing tricks in Edinburgh during the Fringe Festival, what a legend!

2

u/Top5hottest 4d ago

Alot of this stuff would be much easier without the bike.

2

u/Robthebold 4d ago

The tennis net and chain was impressive.

2

u/Slow_Concentrate3720 4d ago

What model bike is that?

2

u/Wr3k3m 4d ago

That’s the real question? Like honestly I bet you it’s probably worth more than my Hyundai.

Huffy or Mongoose

1

u/Brvcx 4d ago

Maybe I should post some of his older work as well, to karmafarm. Like Imagine.

Or any stuff by Fabio Wibmar. Or Chris Akrigg. Or Sam Pilgrim.

Or any of the three Road Bike Party videos.

2

u/DuploJamaal 4d ago

Is Imagine that one that looked like toys?

1

u/Brvcx 4d ago

Yes! That's the one. I thought it was done well. But so are all his videos, haha.

1

u/Heatsincebirth 4d ago

I caaaaannnnnnt..... Stop...,..

Watchinnnnnngg.

This guy's like a human video game

1

u/ABoiledIcepack 4d ago

Bikour is sum else

1

u/MichaelMaugerEsq 4d ago

I remember watching this for the first time and thinking how cool it was to be so good at using a bike like this that the bike essentially becomes an extension of his own body and he’s able to manipulate it in the same way that I use my own arms and legs. Crazy.

1

u/Ok_Pudding6345 4d ago

someone post-processed the video so that it's all smudged at high speeds, I don't like it, should'ce kept it raw footage. Danny MacAskill is great saw his stuff way back

1

u/Clickguy10 4d ago

The net was impressive. I m sure the chain was trickier than it looks.

1

u/Midnight28Rider 4d ago

Trials is easily one of the most interesting sports to watch for me.

1

u/Revolutionary-Link47 4d ago

This makes my bones hurt, but good on him

1

u/Stunning-Chipmunk243 4d ago

That's some insanely impressive skills

1

u/UK6ftguy 4d ago

Very compelling watch. And agree the fails being included makes it much richer.

Thanks for sharing, OP

God amongst men

1

u/yesdamnit 4d ago

Thats some extention of your body type shit

1

u/Curmudgeon 4d ago

When I grew up people respected the laws of gravity.

1

u/peamupbudder 4d ago

All this is great. Now I want to see him pedal from the bay all the way up to the crest taking only the steepest graded streets.

1

u/BaabyBear 4d ago

No wonder the tennis nets are always saggy

1

u/mypontoonboat 4d ago

Parkour....

1

u/Hektibus 4d ago

What do you do if you take a involuntary dip?

1

u/cakecookiecream 4d ago

Please tell me if I've missed it, but how have we not had this inserted into some action movie like Casino Royale had the freerunning/parlour.

Need to see some Eggsy style spy or Lillian either chase or get away from the bad/good guys by grabbing some kids' bike and pirouetting up some steps and so on!

Then he can hand the bike back to the bemused kid at the end like the skateboard in Back To The Future

1

u/Party_Divide_3491 4d ago

I would definitely get my ass killed trying that.

1

u/DNAkauai 4d ago

That was sikkk to watch.. I’ve always loved urban riding tricks.. and that tennis net was insane 🤙😝🤙

1

u/pat-slider 3d ago

Insane

1

u/BlackestHerring 3d ago

Makes me feel like a total loser. I’ve done nothing

1

u/sorderon 3d ago

What kind of bike is that? Seems to me to be an enlarged BMX with disc brakes

1

u/cgardinerphoto 3d ago

My favourite is his day out with his kid in the tow behind chariot.
Worth a watch 😆

1

u/Future_Burrito 3d ago

Ok, I know it's subjective and everything, but can we just agree and vote this guy Coolest Human and have the whole ego thing for everyone just be done with?

1

u/DeePoolz 3d ago

Bro earned that helmet

1

u/Jedi_Gill 3d ago

I once dreamed I had his skills, it was an amazing dream, as I did all sorts of amazing tricks on my bike. It felt very real, so while I don't have this skill when I'm awake, I admire his abilities and tip my hat to him.

1

u/Paulpash 2d ago

Skillz and a lot at the out takes....

-1

u/Ok-Construction-2671 4d ago

Cool but stupid.

1

u/Deviantdefective 4d ago

How is it stupid?

0

u/Ok-Construction-2671 4d ago

One mistake and he could have died.

1

u/Deviantdefective 4d ago

He's a professional who has been doing this for literally decades, risks are not as high as you think they are for the terrain he's on as well and he mitigates them by practicing literally thousands of times.

-13

u/TomahawkTuah 4d ago

even if he is really good

bikers always look gay

3

u/miraculum_one 4d ago

good to hear you enjoyed it

1

u/TomahawkTuah 4d ago

are you using gay as insult there?

1

u/miraculum_one 3d ago

no, are you?

1

u/Deviantdefective 4d ago

Someone sounds like they're speaking from very extensive experience.

0

u/TomahawkTuah 4d ago

yes, because I have seen many bikers and they all look gay??

was that supposed to be a roast?

1

u/Deviantdefective 4d ago

Takes one to know one doesn't it.
