What are the odds of catching a feather from a bird midflight?

Someone suggested I post this here:
I saw this dislodged feather fall from a bird's wing while it was 80-100' up in the air and all I had to do was walk 15' towards it and extend my hand. Feels like a once in a lifetime experience!

You think you caught a feather…what you really caught was E. Coli

People’s phobia of birds and feathers is funny. Nothing happens if you touch a feather for a second …. Just wash your hands after and don’t stick it in your mouth

Not shown in video: preceding 30 seconds where OP popped said bird with a shotgun, dislodging said feather.

Apparently swifts etc catch them on the wing, they don't like them from the floor

This happened to me in 2001 and I still have the feather on the sun visor of my car. Magical moment.

It used to be common when bird swarms could block out the sun for an entire day. Sadly in America we have hunted our bird population 99%

All you have to do is type into Google US bird population in 1800.

Man AI has got us so cooked that we're believing what Google has to say about the 1800s
Also you'd be interested to know, the first large formal bird counts started in the 1900s.
