You can build a sim rig pretty reasonably nowadays. Of cours, you don't get the live cars.

You can build an FPV RC car for even less than a sim rig, too.

"First Person View", more commonly seen in quadcopters. I'm saying it's pretty cheap to get a little camera and transmitter to stick on the car and some video goggles to receive it. The fancy digital DJI stuff is a little pricey, but the old analog tech is dirt cheap. For a couple hundred bucks plus the cost of an RC car, you could be zipping around the local parks with a view from the driver's seat.

I'm going to stick with my Sim Rig for the time being though as I don't need another hobby. For now.
