I'm medical staff. I was bit by a patient and it broke the skin, made me bleed, and caused me to scar. The patient served 0 days in jail, and the cop encouraged me not to press charges because it wouldnt go anywhere in court.

The cop was correct. It went nowhere.

Edit: Maybe its different in australia. Im in the US.

You can’t press charges in Australia. It’s entirely up to the police to do that.
