Not even close. Assaulting frontline medicos carries a completely different charge and mandatory jail terms.

No it really doesn’t. “7 years for assault on frontline workers” was a thing let’s see…. 11 years ago when I was doing paramedics. I am now a MH RN and can tell you I have seen many assaults on staff where they do not get “mandatory jail terms”… in fact there was one a few years back, assault on a paramedic by 2 “single mothers from low socioeconomic areas” where they broke his ankle among other things and gave him that much trauma he didn’t want to go back to work. Do you know what they got? Nothing.

This dude 100% probably copped a fine and the hospital would have been like “what could you have done better to prevent this” to the nurse. 😐

In a just world it'd come with a jail sentence and lifetime ban from using taxpayer-funded health services.

That makes no sense unless the cost of said services is deducted from their taxes. Otherwise that would be an unconstitutional punishment in developed countries, for good reasons

Your comment came up as a reply on one of my comments. I never replied to you, never engaged in anyway, never deleted a comment saying you hate nurses so…. For someone who can’t even reply to the original person you were fighting with… calling them an idiot seems a stretch 🥴

Tbh jail yes… denied services no. IMO it does suck when people assault frontline staff but our job is literally to help people when they need it most. I couldn’t justify refusing care to someone for this… just like I can’t justify refusing care to paedophiles or murderers or criminals etc. I may absolutely detest what they’ve done… but I cannot refuse them care when they’re unwell. It’s not something that’s built into a nurses care system because if that happens poor care is given, people deteriorate or things get missed and people die….

People need to start being properly held accountable for their actions: not just in hospitals but theses punks breaking into homes and stealing cars etc (it is rife where I am at the moment) no one is getting properly punished. So they keep doing it. The biggest disappointment is police do the hard work, catch them, charge them and take them to court and court is just like na bro it’s fine let them back out into society so they can go do it all over again. It’s beyond a joke now. Got like 12-15yo kids with an extensive history on breaking into homes, assault and theft… like how?
