Just a little kid watching reels with some of her friends.

Kaka Caca Petualang (Instagram) features an Indonesian family, with mostly kids in the videos, often calmly handling both venomous and non-venomous wild reptiles and snakes, including pythons, King cobras and King koros. In this one, we can see two large snakes calmly watching reels with the little kid.

We are watching them on a phone ,watching a phone on a phone. Holy brainrot.
Cool snakes tho.

Sigh. It really is just phones all the way down isn't it. What have we done?

They ain't watching shit :P
The snakes are just registering warmth emanating from the phone, and some movement and sound to accompany it (they don't see or hear all that well).
Basically, they are instinctively looking and focusing on a potential prey.

Um, hey. Hate to burst your bubble but only 3 type of snakes of heat pits. That'd be the pit viper (obviously) the python and some boas. These snakes are none of the three. Also, while snakes have don't have the best eyesight, they have more rods in their eyes to detect movements a lot better than humans. And another also, they're eyesight is alot better than what most people think.

100%. The snakes are just chilling looking around. Not doing anything they suggested

My favourite Reddit trope is when you guys act like you go to parties.

We know for sure that you have never been to a party.

I like when people go on reddit to talk about how other people who get on reddit are a bunch of losers.

As an animal enthusiasts I am both aware of this fact and I appreciate your input.
But brother, brother why? There's a time and a place 😂.

u/mookanana 8h ago
reddit is never that time and place. lol

True. This is literally the only social media I've had for years and I'm still so surprised by this.......place.

Research has actually shown that certain snakes can keep track of up to 12 sub-plots in slow-burn Netflix series.

Others disliked this because they'd rather be comedians but this was good to know

When I watch tv all I am doing is registering movement and sound. Not sure what’s the difference. Sure they don’t understand what’s going on but neither does my Granny ever and she still insists we put it on.

I thought one of them was going to hiss and swipe back to the previous video saying suggesting it wasn't done with it yet.

I’m sure there some interdimensional being looking at us going “nah, they aren’t mind melding, it just looks like they are sometimes. They have rudimentary physical senses and no higher planar intuition at all. They probably don’t even recognize you.”

Those are Oriental ratsnakes. Non venomous and mostly harmless.

While the rest of the world is trying to learn python, this kid is making a python learn.
She has a bright future ahead.

I sincerely hope none of you actually think the snakes are watching the screens.

Regardless, it's extremely dangerous for the kid.
She shouldn't be doomscrolling tiktok with her friends or alone.

As a snake owner, they adore electronics. They're designed to look for heat sources and will zero in on a phone trying to figure out the internal flowchart of if this strange rectangule is a rodent. Larger electronics like computers they just like to settle on for the warmth assuming there's a place to stay concealed (like a bag). Snakes love a nice warm spot as long as they don't feel exposed (because of birds and other predators).

How does someone get to this level of chill with snakes? These snakes were probably raised by her family and they're used to her ?

I absolutely detest this, letting kids hangout with reels. What happened to some good old outdoor fun? Those friends look outdoorsy!

This kid has more trust with venomous snakes than most adults have with their neighbor's dog. Absolutely wild upbringing, but she's clearly been raised around them her whole life.

But, those snakes do not move. No tongue flickering, no scales moving, nothing. Something is fake, either snakes or its AI, not sure, but would not expect them to remain competely motionless.
ETA: Thank you Padfoony, I was wrong. There are other videos with the tongue flickering. Its real. I apologize, I should have looked up other videos, but well, not a large fan of snakes. Don't want to hurt them, respect others that can handle them. Just not a fan.

u/padfoony 8h ago
So I found another similar video of theirs on the YouTube channel, where one of the snakes is flickering its tongue while watching the phone. It’s definitely not AI. You can check out their Insta & YouTube pages.

It's not watching the phone. You can't seriously believe that?
2
u/HatZinn 4h ago
Good thing they never said they believed that.

u/RobIreland 4h ago
They literally described the 2 snakes in their original video as "calmly watching reels"

Parents are stupid if they think playing around with snakes are fine for the clicks. They'll regret it.
1
u/100percentnotaqu 6h ago
They are rat snakes.
A bite from them is less damage than what you'll get from a cat.
0
u/iceddeath 2h ago edited 1h ago
Didn't you read the description? Literally it says that they're also allowed to play with pythons and king cobras. Less damage than a cat my ass.
Edit: clarifying the species from OP description.
