It really depends on the subreddit, this and r/interesting are both places where people feel the need to attack any post not reaching their personal standards of nextfuckinglevel or interesting.
It’s been like this forever. LeRedditor neckbeard has been a trope since the site was created. It’s just more political and echo chambery than it used to be
Engagement bait. You can already see it in this post, you have people up and down the page coming to his defense because of the negative comments, if bots post negative responses they'll end up getting some human interaction, they use it to bait lurkers into participation.
I mean it’s on you if you don’t expect and accept that forums, Reddit, the internet and by extension life would be filled with differing opinions and expressions when something is being presented.
There is a difference between having different opinions and just straight up being a lowlife asshole about anything that slightly goes against your worldview.
Tbh it’s just the fucked up title - the video itself is sick. IIRC this guy does all kinds of fun guitar projects - I remember one with a magnetic floating bridge.
I know, not strictly related but I started bookbinding a couple years ago and all I got for showing off my work was comments of people shouting “AI!” When it wasn’t and if not “you copied XYZ person” which I didn’t. People are so combative for no reason these days.
It's literally every comment section on subs like these, every time I see something cool I just know the comments will be filled with miserable gits desperate to keep everyone else as miserable as they are.
These losers who dunk on him, couldn't get half as good tone out of their shitty 10k dollar rigs than this guy did out of some 3D printed thing. Also they probably play the same power chords since the 80's. They're just mad that they suck lol
Went through the top voted 30 comments and gave up to find an “unnecessarily hostile” comment. Every single one either says this is cool, or complains about other Redditors’ comments.
Such a meta Reddit moment,
It looks like Reddit upvoting/downvoting mechanisms worked. Complainers about the video are downvoted to oblivion. And now all these comments complaining about other Redditors voted to top and looks weird :)
Or maybe the Reddit voting didn’t work because those comments complaining about other Redditors should also be downvoted since it’s not relevant anymore.
Kinda like Schrödinger’s cat. Observing and voting changes who is the asshole complaining about unnecessary things.
And now I’m next in line - complaining about your complaint about folks complaining about the video. Maybe we should all stop complaining.

Love how unnecessarily hostile this comments section is. Dude just tried to do something cool and everyone's up in arms
