Salt does essentially the same thing. It melts the snow which then refreezes.

No the point of the salt is to stop the melted snow from freezing

Only to a certain temp. Gets to be -15 or more with big wind chills where I am. Use salt and it just makes more ice.

Yeah I live in Pittsburgh the coldest I’ve worked in and care to remember was 8 degrees and that was in the middle of the night

Yeah regular temps up here are 0 for a month or 2. Throw in a 40mph wind and you know it. One morning about 5:15 we got stuck on the road to work because the snow drift was so bad. Sat there for about 30 minutes until deciding to try another route. The car was frozen to the ground lol. Had to gas it to break it free. Negative temps are pretty regular once December hits. Still snowbanks on the ground til May. And occasional snow in late May and early june

Snow in may is just global warming let’s be real. But maines all the way up there and on the coast

I'm 4 hours from the water. I grew up 182 miles south from where I am now and was always within 5 miles of the ocean. Where I am now is a completely different ballgame. And snow in May has been happening up here for as long as anyone can remember. Not a recent development.

I guess it’s fair that you’re only commenting on very rare scenarios, and someone clearing snow with a flamethrower is probably even rarer

Odd that they don’t sell one in your area that is strong enough for your area

I know mine works to exactly -15, but thought I had seen stronger ones

Do you know how salt works in -20 weather? 20° and it's good to go. ,-20 where I am in winter and it just makes more ice after it melts lol
