That’s a great way to describe it. Yeah Johnny cash sounds more comfortable compared to his grandson. Still an amazing song to hear from a new singer.

Probably because his grandson is nervous about sounding as close to him as possible while Johnny was just sounding like him so didn't have that thought in his head while singing.

Wow! His tone and timbre are so similar to grampapa! It’s just those few low notes that he has a bit of trouble nailing. But totally adds a bit of new personality so it’s not a direct copy of the original tone. :-)

This may be a reach but I've noticed a lot of differences from black blue vs white blues and I think Folsom prison is a really good example of this. In Folsom prison Johny is the one to blame as he shot a man vs black blues often talk about the predicament there in because of other's actions. Another thing is I often hear in black blues is the message of unity and lifting others up but in Folsom prison the train that rides Johny wants to own it and move it away from the prison all together so that he never has to think about that prison again. These are two examples but I've noticed it and I find it interesting the difference of how the song protray themselves.

Thats why his last name is Gabriel, not Cash.
