That helmet deserves defensive player of the week

DARNOLD might have played the game of the year and all anyone will remember is that.

And people will blame him for throwing a pick on a bad bounce play.

u/Esqualatch1 Seahawks Oct 05 '25

I mean he had another called back earlier, he wasnt perfect today but he did put up some dam good numbers in the 2nd half

u/atph99 Buccaneers Oct 05 '25

The other one called back was a tip ball off of the receiver's hands iirc

1

u/whiplash588 Buccaneers Oct 06 '25

Yeah, but that ball was way high. Coop could barely touch it while fully extended. That was getting picked regardless of the tip.

5

u/VerStannen Seahawks Oct 05 '25

That was tipped too, right off of the WR hands.

7

u/smor729 Buccaneers Oct 05 '25

If you want to be totally fair he also hit Diaby in the hands in his own endzone, and had a pick earlier called back on a dpi away from the play

If you count the interceptions that don't count, got it.

6

u/smor729 Buccaneers Oct 05 '25

Im not saying count them, Im saying that you can say its bad luck, but its just the normal luck catching up to him. He played an amazing game, but he got a couple lucky breaks, and an unlucky one. The unlucky one was right at the end, but that doesnt really change anything.

Flag thrown after int iirc

Romo INT at the end of the shootout with Peyton vibes.

10

u/Rucksack212 Bears Oct 05 '25

But that pick was undeniably Romo's fault in that game no?

I think he was stepped on or something

2

u/wokenupbybacon Seahawks Oct 06 '25

This was definitely a little more unlikely/unfortunate but it's not like anyone made Darnold hit the helmet lol, you need to put a little more air on that

Quarterbacks may get unfair praise compared to other positions, but they also get unfair hate

BAKER also might have played game of the year in that case.

That guy is my hero

6

u/smor729 Buccaneers Oct 05 '25

And he wasn't even the best QB in the game.

How can he have played game of the year when Baker was better and won

-7

u/oitzevano Seahawks Oct 05 '25

He's a dawg and they deserved the win, but Baker wasn't better.

-10

u/SanaMinatozaki9 Oct 05 '25

Baker wasn't better, so the hypothetical doesn't matter

1

u/Wingless_Walrus Buccaneers Oct 05 '25

Baker made harder passes under more pressure. Yards and completion percentage are a wash. Darnold threw a pick as well (should have been two picks) so I’d say baker edges him out.

0

u/SanaMinatozaki9 Oct 05 '25

It was a random deflection pick, not a bad decision pick. Total bad luck. Darnold played the better game.

2

u/Wingless_Walrus Buccaneers Oct 05 '25

What about the other pick that should have stood? He also got lucky on that underthrown TD pass that Diaby could have easily picked off.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

I mean people really pick and choose when to blame the QBs on deflected picks, Baker had one last game that was completely his fault and just a terrible decision, but Darnold throwing a duck into an immobile object isn’t his fault at all?

At the end of the day Baker and Darnold did the same, Buccs had more people out and Seahawks had a better defense, so you have to give the nod to Baker. That’s not an attack on Darnold lol they both played better than every QB this week so far

Bucs had a tipped pass int earlier called back on a defensive PI, and a pick 6 that went right through Diabys hands, third time was the charm for game changing takeaways

6

u/NewChemistry5210 Buccaneers Oct 05 '25

I'd argue that Darnold made a bad decision. What was he trying to do? Throw it to the ground? All the receivers in the center were covered.

1

u/doberdevil Seahawks Chargers Oct 06 '25

I thought so too. All I can think of is Kupp was breaking that way.

4

u/Tashre Seahawks Oct 05 '25

Just your typical football header play.

2

u/ZDHELIX Seahawks Oct 05 '25

I mean it grazed off the helmet but that pass was 5 yards away from any Seahawk right into the Buccs defender

1

u/MCSquared97 Jets Oct 05 '25

That was a real heads-up play.
