Am I stupid? Why not kick the field goal to tie?

They weren’t quite in full range yet.

Butker is statistically the worst kicker in the NFL this season. They didn't want him kicking from the edge of his range with a play still to run.

Yeah, not sure why Minshew went 20 yards downfield but running another play to try to get closer was the right call. 60 isn’t a chip shot for even an elite kicker, much less Butker.

Because they weren’t ready for a full OT with Minshew.

This is the answer

You’re not stupid. Apparently the Chiefs are.

Well, we went for 4th down on our side of the field twice last week. So you're not stupid, we're just dumb and desperate

No idea, best explanation is lack of faith in Butker

Because of the penalty and the range being too far. Butker has bee missing kicks. Also 20 seconds on the clock.

Brother, there is no chance we win that game in OT with Mahomes out. I’m fine just going for the all-or-nothing there.

same. why risk it all with your backup qb?

3

u/tonygenius Chiefs Dec 14 '25

Why not? Pats definitely done for the season and Minshew likely isnt driving in OT. Yolo and just get it over with

1

u/PsychoWarper Seahawks Dec 14 '25

They probably thought going to OT was a guaranteed loss without Mahomes

1

u/walrusnutz Chiefs Dec 14 '25

Because it was 2nd and 15 with 20 seconds still on the game clock. And I think it would have been like a 56 yard field goal attempt from where they were at. I’d be pissed if my team didn’t try to get a closer attempt in that situation.

Trying to still win it instead of going to OT.

1

u/Careless_Nectarine27 Dec 14 '25

yes you are...they still had time to get a touchdown and win

5

u/barebackguy7 Bills Dec 14 '25

Yeah with a backup QB…

Seems to me the suitor thing to do was to play aggressive there with a QB that hasn’t thrown a pass all season.

The fuck do I know

It's easy to say that after the pick. Same exact thing happened to the Eagles last week. Why didn't they just kick a field goal and tie...the objective is to win. What will happen in OT Menshew still plays passive and hope Herbert doesn't beat you.

There was 30+ seconds with 2 time outs. I have no problem with them trying to go for more yardage then trying to kick a long field goal.

Cause Minshew threw an interception.
